Phellinus linteus strains ASI 26099 (Korea Sanghwang, PLKS), KACC93057P (Hankyong Sanghwang, PLHS), HN6036 and P. baumii (Jangsoo Sanghwnag, PBJS), were artificially cultivated on oak wood logs in a mushroom house under the same condition. The two years old fruiting bodies were used for analyzing bioactive efficacies. The crude polysaccharides from fruiting bodies of PLHS showed high proliferative activity in LPS (lipopolysaccharide) -activated RAW 264.7 cell at 125-100μg/mL when compared to those of other varieties. The polysaccharide samples inhibited cytokines, IL-6 and TNF-α production of 43-63% in the cell dependent on concentrations of 125-1000μg/mL. The PLHS showed high inhibitory effect of 20-45% on HCT116 human colon cancer cells at concentration of 125 μg/mL-1000 μg/mL when compared to that of 3-39% of PBJS.
