The purpose of this study is to examine the specialties of ethnic Korean society and schools in China and present the case of invitational workshop for ethnic Korean school teachers, which was conducted in 2018. Ethnic Korean society has faced to many difficulties, such as declining the numbers of students and teachers as well as reducing Joseon language use. Since Joseon language has historical and academical value, so it should be kept. To solve these problems, Overseas Koreans Foundation has invited ethnic Korean school teachers to enhance their capability since 2011. In this study, the objectives, processes, participant information, and the details of the workshop were discussed. Total 58 teachers participated in this workshop, 42 were Joseon language teachers and 16 were music teachers. This workshop was aimed to maintain ethnic education, establish the network among educators in both internal and external, and enhance competitiveness for ethnic Korean schools. To achieve these goals, this workshop suggested three steps through the whole programme: learning theory, practicing the theory, and demonstrating the theory. Participants showed high satisfaction for the workshop programme, however, they suggested the programme should be focused on practice rather than learning pedagogical theory. Two suggestions were added to improve the workshop for ethnic Korean teachers in China: to conduct needs analysis before the workshop, and to organize the programme contents based on the practice which can be applied immediately for their educational institutes.

조선족 학교는 한중 수교 이후 조선족의 대거 이동으로 집거 지역이 해체되면서 학생 수 감소, 교원 감소, 조선어 사용 빈도 감소 등으로 운영의 어려움을 겪고 있다. 일제 강점기에 중국으로 이주한 우리 민족이 정착하여 형성된 조선족 집거지에서 여러 방언과 섞여 형성된 조선어는 역사적, 학문적으로 연구 가치가 있다. 조선족학교의 위기와 조선어 사용 감소의 현 상황을 해결하기 위하여 연구자들은 조선족학교 교육과정의 개발, 이중언어 교육법 개발, 교사 양성 등의 다양한 방안을 제안하였다. 이 연구는 한국정부차원에서 조선족학교의 경쟁력 강화를 지원하기 위하여 2011년부터 실시한 조선족학교 교사 연수의 목표와 내용, 현황 사례 및 연수 평가에 대하여 다루고 있다. 2018 조선족학교 교사 초청 연수는 총 58명이 참여하였는데 조선어 교사 42명, 음악 교사 16명이다. 이 연수는 민족 교육 기반 유지, 국내·외 우리말 교육자간 정보 교류 및 네트워크 구축, 조선족학교 교육 경쟁력 강화를 목표로 하고 있고, 목표를 달성하기 위해 교육 프로그램을 체득(이론), 체험(실습), 체화(모의수업)의 세 단계로 구성하였다. 연수 참여자들은 담당 교과에 따라서 공통 영역, 조선어 영역, 음악 영역의 교육 프로그램을 수강하였고 교육은 이론과 실습수업이 1:1의 비율이 되도록 진행하였다. 연수 참여자들은 대체로 연수 프로그램에 높은 만족도를 보였으나 이론보다는 실습위주로 교육 프로그램을 구성하기를 바랐으며 초·중·고등학교 수업 현장에 적용 가능한 강의가 더 많았으면 좋겠다는 의견이 있었다. 이 연구에서는 향후 조선족학교 교사 연수 프로그램의 개선을 위하여 연수 전 사전 요구의 필요성과 연수 대상자들의 교육 현장에 보다 실질적으로 도움이 되는 내용을 구성해야 함을 제안하였다.
