Social problems, including social ills and juvenile delinquency, were initially attributed to the lack of character, so character education was presented as an alternative. Such interest was extended to the Character Education Promotion Act of 2015. However, educators in the field have experienced confusion about what and how to teach character. Researchers offered factor extraction of character (education) as one of the solutions to the confusion. This study aims to develop the Christian character scale for university students, and explore its validity and reliability. To achieve this goal, analysis of Bible passages and precedent studies, factor extraction, item development, content validity testing, pilot testing, main survey, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis were performed. The Christian character scale, developed with 441 participants, is composed of 26 items with 5 factors-Christian values, respect and caring, diligence, tolerance, and social responsibility. Based on the results, the horizon of such research might be extended, and Christian-uni-versity student-oriented character education could be practiced more effectively in the field.

우리 사회의 사회병리현상과 청소년 비행 등 사회문제에 대한 일차적인 원인은 인성의 부재라고 분석되었으며, 그 대안으로 인성교육이 제시되 었다. 그 해결책의 시행은 2015년 인성교육진흥법 제정으로 이어졌으나 교육현장에서는 여전히 무엇을 어떻게 가르쳐야 할지에 대해 혼란을 경 험하고 있다. 전문가들은 인성(교육)의 요인을 추출하는 것이 이러한 혼 란에 대한 하나의 해결책이 될 수 있다고 제시한 바 있다. 본 연구는 대학 생용 기독교 인성을 측정할 도구를 개발하고 타당화하는 것을 목적으로 하는데, 이러한 목적을 이루기 위해 성경 본문과 선행연구 분석, 요인 추 출, 문항 개발, 내용 타당도 검사, 예비조사, 본 조사, 탐색적 ․ 확인적 요 인분석을 실시하였다. 기독 대학생 441명을 대상으로 실시된 본 연구에 서 개발된 대학생용 기독교 인성 측정도구는 기독교 가치관, 존중과 배 려, 근면, 관용, 사회적 책임 5개 요인 26문항으로 구성되었다. 본 연구결 과를 토대로 기독교 인성교육에 대한 연구의 장이 확장되고 기독 대학생 을 대상으로 하는 인성교육이 현장에서 보다 효과적으로 실시될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
