This study examined the political effects of the political entertainment program which has grown steadily since the launch of the general programming channel. Unlike the satirical centered entertainment talk show from US, the political entertainment program of general programming channel is changing into a unique Korean style genre which many panelists play a group talk on heavy political issues. This study focused the effects of quality and attributes of contents that were not covered in previous studies on political entertainments. Based on the contents attributes of trust and playfulness dimension as independent variables, the hypotheses relation between the viewing behavior and the voting intentions were analyzed by structural equation model. As a result of the study, the contents quality had a positive effect on the viewing behavior, and the playfulness had a positive effect on the voting intentions, but the reliability failed to verify the direct influence relationship. The viewing behavior of the political entertainment program had negative influence on the voting intentions. These results also provide academic and practical implications for viewing behavior and voting intentions on the contents attributes of political entertainment in the general programming channel.

본 연구는 채널 출범 이후 꾸준히 성장하여 종편 채널의 간판으로 자리매김한 정치예능 프로그램의 정치적 효과에 관해 알아보았다. 풍자 중심의 서구 토크쇼와 달리 종편채널 의 정치예능은 무거운 정치 이슈에 대해 다수의 토론자가 유희적 집단 토크를 하는 독특 한 한국형 장르로 변화하고 있다. 기존 정치예능 관련 연구에서 다루어오지 않았던 콘텐 츠의 속성과 품질의 효과에 대한 연구도 포함된다. 신뢰성과 유희성 차원의 콘텐츠 속성 을 독립변인으로 하여 시청행위에 미치는 영향과 언급된 변인 모두가 궁극적으로 투표의 도에 미치는 가설관계를 연구모델화하여 구조방정식으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 콘텐츠 특성은 모두 시청 행위에 긍정적 영향을 미쳤고, 유희성은 투표의도에 긍정적 영향을 미 치는 것으로 나타났으나 신뢰성은 직접적 영향 관계를 검증하는 데 실패하였다. 정치예 능 프로그램의 시청 행위에 대해 긍정적인 경우는 투표의도에 긍정적 영향을, 부정적인 경우에는 투표의도에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 종편 채널 의 정치예능의 콘텐츠 속성에 관한 시청 행위와 투표의도에의 학문적, 실무적 시사점도 함께 제공하고 있다.
