Park Ki-dong who has been a field hockey player, has been a one's lifetime to body. 필드하키선수로 활동한 박기동은 한 생애를 몸으로 살아 온 사람이다. 조선 후기 무예사 연구로 박사학위를 받았고, 체육사와 스포츠인류학을 바탕으로 구술사를 접목하여 스포츠부문의 질적연구자들을 배출했다. 박기동은 시집 『어부 김판수』를 시작으로 2018년 『노새 혹은 쇄빙선』을 출판하는 시인 으로 살아오기도 했다. 시집 『내 몸이 동굴이다』는 ‘인간학’인 체육학 교수 시인으로 ‘몸으로서의 삶’ 전반에 대한 깊은 사유를 보여준다. 박기 동은 이렇게 스포츠맨으로 성장했지만 문학·역사·철학을 두루 섭렵하며 체육·스포츠의 학문적 위상을 탐색해 왔다. 박기동은 교수로서 정년퇴직을 앞두고 있다. 이 글은 박기동에게 사사받은 체육 교사이자 시인인 필자의 헌사다.
