In this paper, I pay attention to liberal arts education as a constructive alternative to the unification education to be carried out after reunification. Especially liberal arts education that targets the youth is the most effective and natural way to develop a unification capabilities. A liberal arts education in high school is the educational tasks needed to grow a generation of young people going to lead a united Korean peninsula as a mature democratic citizens with a healthy personality. Therefore, we will continue to make efforts to prepare to secure the human and material resources, establish various conditions and develop curriculums. In this paper, I define the concept of liberal education to be carried out in high school after reunification as "education to cultivate of students mature democratic citizenship and healthy humanity to live in a unified Korean Peninsula". And in this paper will examine the educational objectives, educational content, teaching methods of the high school of general education after reunification.

본 논문에서는 통일 이후에 실시될 통일교육의 건설적 대안으로 교양교육에 주목하고자 한다. 특히 자아와 세계관이 성립되는 가장 중요한 시기인 청소년을 대상으로 하는 교양교 육은 통일 한반도의 구성원들에게 요구되는 통일역량을 길러줄 수 있는 가장 효과적이고 자 연스러운 방법일 것이다. 통일 이후에 실시될 고등학교에서의 교양교육은 통일 한반도를 이 끌고 갈 청소년 세대를 건강한 인성을 갖춘 성숙한 민주시민으로 키우기 위해 필수적으로 요청되는 국가 차원의 교육적 과업이다. 이렇듯 중요한 과업을 성공적으로 수행하기 위해서 는 지금부터 장기적 안목을 가지고 인적·물적 자원 확보, 제반 여건 마련, 커리큘럼 개발 등 과 같은 제도적 준비를 지속적으로 해나가야 할 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 통일 이후 고등학교에서 실시될 교양교육의 개념을 "통일 한반도에서 살아갈 학생들에게 성숙한 민주시민의식과 건강한 인성을 함양하고, 사람다운 삶을 살아갈 수 있는 성향과 능력을 길러주는 교육"으로 정의하고, 통일 이후 고등학교 교육과정에서 실 시될 수 있는 교양교육에 대해 교육목적, 교육내용, 교육방법 등을 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다.
