Besides the material and mental compensation and respect for the participants of Korean War as well as their left families, the government should make strenuous efforts to teach young students the honorable sacrifice of the former soldiers in order to celebrate and remember their priceless devotion and service during the Korean war which broke out in 1950 and ceased the fire in 1953. According to the analysis and research of the history school books of middle school and high school, most history textbooks do not explain or describe the recommendable sacrifice of the soldiers and remarkable results, feats caused and procured while operating the war. The most important step the government and the educational institutes need to take is that local and central authorities, government and national assembly should increase the compensation for the old veterans and their families. In addition, young students need to be socialized and educated for sacrifice for the mother state.

6.25전쟁 보훈 대상자에 대한 보상과 정신적 예우를 넘어서서, 6.25참전 유공자들이 보여 준 나라사랑 정신을 온 국민 특히, 자라나는 청소년들에게 확산시키는 ‘보훈문화 패러다임’ 이 확립되도록 범 정부차원의 노력이 있어야 한다. 중고등학교 역사 교과서 분석을 통해 살 펴본 결과, 대부분의 검정 교과서들이 6.25전쟁 과정에서 보여준 참전 유공자들의 헌신적인 모습과 자랑스러운 전과들을 제대로 설명하지 않고 있었다. 그리고, 6.25전쟁 때 어린 나이 에 전쟁에 참전하여 국가를 지킨 소년병, 학도병, 학도 의용군에 대해서, 중학교 교과서는 전혀 언급하지 않고 있었고, 고등학교 교과서 9종 중에 오직 4종의 교과서에서만 관련 내용 에 대한 서술이 있었다. 나머지 교과서들에서는 청소년들이 단지 피해자로만 묘사되어 있었다. 얼마 남지 않은 6.25참전 유공자들에 대한 지원을 확대하고, 6.25전쟁 때 참전 유공자들이 보여준 나라사랑 정신을 청소년들이 본받을 수 있도록 교육을 정비함으로써, 6.25전쟁이 우 리 사회의 통합과 국가발전에 중요한 밑거름이 될 수 있을 것이다.
