This study defined the scope and type of addiction and examined the power addiction, which is a type of relationship addiction. This theme can be found from Richard III, the Duke of Gloucester, a power-addicted figure in Shakespeare's play, Richard III, and a main character named Frank Joseph Underwood, who had drawn popularity in the House of Cards, a Netflix original drama series. The two figures were standardized to show the general form of power poisoning. Absolute evil Richard III, who get bogged down into a quagmire of power indulgence more and more while exploiting anxiety of society and people and President Underwood, who exploits and protects the pinnacle of power through the skillful manipulation of scheme and estrangement are standard figures of power addiction. This phenomenon of power addiction appears not only in literary works or drama but also in a modern society. It can be a phenomenon of power addiction to captivate people with conspiracy numbers and hoaxes, and to cloud people's rational judgments with fake news. Pursuing power in a way to unite people in social unrest into the groups or relationships that they belong to. After all, power addiction will form common actions of those who devote to power, but in the case of false it is something like conspiracy, hypocrisy, hoaxes, number of mercy, murder and so on.

이 연구는 중독의 범위와 유형을 규정하고, 관계중독의 일종인 권력중독에 대해 고찰했다. 이러한 주제는 셰익스피어(Shakespeare)의 희곡 󰡔리처드 3세󰡕 (Richard Ⅲ)에서 나타난 권력을 탐닉하는 인물 글로스터(Gloucester) 백작 리처드 3세와 넷플릭스 오리지널 드라마 시리즈로 인기를 끌었던 󰡔하우스 오브 카드󰡕(House of Cards)의 주인공 프랭크 J. 언더우드(Frank Joseph Underwood)라는 인물을 통해 발견할 수 있다. 두 인물은 권력중독의 공통적인 양식을 보여주며 정형화되었다. 사회와 대중의 불안함을 이용하여 권력 탐닉의 수렁에 점점 깊이 빠져 들어가는 절대 악한(惡漢) 리처드 3세, 이간질과 공작 등 능수능란한 권모술수를 통해 권력의 정점을 쟁취하고 지켜나가는 대통령 언더우드의 모습은 권력중독의 표준적인 인물이다. 이러한 권력중독의 현상은 문학작품이나 드라마에서 뿐 아니라 현대의 사회적 현상으로 나타난다. 권모술수와 유언비어로 사람들을 현혹 시키고 가짜 뉴스로 대중의 이성적 판단을 흐리게 하려는 시도가 권력중독의 현상이라 할 수 있다. 사회적 불안감에 휩싸인 사람들을 자신이 속한 집단 또는 관계 속에 결속시키기 위한 수단으로 권력을 추구한다. 집단 또는 개인의 권력 쟁취가 정당하다고 대중에게 설득하지만, 권력을 쟁취하는 과정에서 저지른 불법과 범죄, 그리고 반사회적 행동들은 일어나서는 안 될 일이다. 결국, 권력중독은 권력을 탐하는 자들의 공통된 행동을 형성하게 되는데 거짓, 음모, 위선, 유언비어, 권모술수, 살인 등과 같은 것들이다.
