The primary aim of this thesis is to provide the implication in terms of location environmental characteristics to invigorate New Technology-Based Firm(NTBF) which has been globally regarded as a crucial tool for local economic development as well as job creation. To accomplish the purpose of this research, the thesis examines whether Location Characteristics(LC) of NTBFs have an influence on their Management Performance(MP). By analyzing the data gathered through the field survey of the tenant firms in the 2nd Pangyo Techno Valley which is being developed as an innovative start-up ecosystem, the research finds that the industrial cluster factor affects positively on MP of NTBFs. Both economic factor and supporting facility factor also have positive moderating effects on the relationship between LC and MP. However, accessibility factor shows a negative moderating impact on the relationship between LC and MP. These findings suggest that the stimulation and facilitation of NTBFs require appropriate enhancement of all of the location environmental characteristics as mentioned above. Furthermore, the result of this research can provide useful lessons for the development of the 2nd Pangyo Techno Valley as an innovative cluster for NTBFs in Korea.

본 연구는 일자리 창출과 지속적인 경제성장을 위해 기술창업 활성화에 효과적인 입지환경 조성을 추구하는 데 필요한 시사점과 정책적 함의를 도출하고자 수행되었다. 기술창업기업의 입지환경과 경영성과와 관련된 문헌 검토를 통해 기술창업기업에 대한 명확한 개념을 정립하였고, 기술창업기업의 입지환경 특성을 감안한 변인을 도출하여 판교 제2테크노밸리에 입주한 기업들을 대상으로 설문조사 자료를 토대로 입지환경 특성이 기술창업기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 실증분석 하였다. 분석결과, 산업집적을 통한 입지환경 특성은 기술창업기업의 경영성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 입지환경 특성과 기술창업기업의 경영성과 간의 관계에서 경제성 요인과 지원시설 요인은 양(+)의 조절효과를 발생하여 경제성 및 지원시설 요인이 양호할수록 기술창업기업의 경영성과가 향상될 수 있음을 규명하였지만, 접근성 요인은 입지환경 요인과 기술창업기업의 경영성과 간의 관계에서 음(-)의 조절효과를 나타내는 것을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 기반으로 판교 제2테크노밸리에서 시행 중인 창업활성화정책에 대한 효과성에 대한 검증을 통하여 기술창업 활성화를 위한 입지 환경적 특성과 관련된 시사점을 제시하였다.
