This paper defines the concept of homo amans described in Unification Thought, and tries to provide a practical understanding of ‘homo amans’ centered on Hyojeong. At the center of ‘homo amans’ lies the vertical, internal love that exists between Heavenly Parent and mankind. It is not a horizontal, external love. Hyojeong is experienced as a intimacy through positive interaction and responses between existing beings, etc. Hence, this paper looked into the formation of intimacy, which begins through parental attachment, and later on into intimacy between a couple, and how it can eventually expand to love for neighbors as well as the creation, for a more practical understanding of Hyojeong. The conclusion that was made through this observation is that Hyojeong is the standard and beginning point of all love, it is experienced through parental attachment, which leads to the formation of a intimacy, and it is the driving force that makes mature love possible. The family is a base upon which Hyojeong develops and expands through the process of experiencing and practicing Hyojeong. When a person goes beyond such family-centered Hyojeong and gets to practice it toward other people and the creatures, then this person will be able to have a holistic experience which will provide him or her with an even deeper Hyojeong for Heavenly Parent.

본 연구는 통일사상의 애적인간의 개념을 정리하고 효정을 중심으로 애적인간의 실천적 이해를 하고자 하였다. 애적인간의 중심은 인간과 인간 사이의 형상적이고 수평적인 사랑이 아니라 하늘부모님과 인간 사이의 성상적이고 종적인 효정이기 때 문이다. 이러한 효정은 존재 사이의 긍정적인 상호작용과 반응성 등의 친밀감으로 경험되기에 실천적 차원에서 부모애착을 통한 친밀감의 형성과 부부 사이의 친밀감, 이웃 사랑과 만물 사랑으로의 확장을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 효정은 모든 사랑의 기준 이자 출발점으로 부모애착을 통해 경험되며 친밀감을 형성하고 성숙한 사랑을 가능 하게 하는 원동력이 되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 가정은 효정을 체휼하고 실천하 는 과정을 통해 효정을 성장시키고 확장시키는 장이 된다. 나아가 가정을 넘어 타인 과 만물에 대한 효정을 실천할 때 하늘부모님에 대한 효정이 더욱 깊이 체휼되는 통전적 경험을 하게 됨을 알 수 있었다.
