Preparation and Characterization of Polyphenylsilsesquioxane Powders for Cosmetics Applications
초록
영어
Oils, amorphous polymers, and powders of silicone have been used in cosmetics for many years. Silicon based powders are silica, cross-linked polysiloxanes, and polysilsesquioxanes that have chemical structures of -(SiO2)n-, -(SiOR2)n-, and -(SiRO1.5)n-, respectively. Polymethylsilsesquioxane is the first and the most representative polysilsesquioxane powder used in cosmetics of different types. Polysilsesquioxane powders are virtually perfect spheres and provide excellent sensory that may be creamy for smaller sized powders and silky for larger sized powders. Polysilsesquioxanes are often prepared from alkyl substituted trialkoxysilane in forms of oiligomers, soluble polymers, and insoluble spherical powders. In our laboratory, we have pursued preparation of polysilsesquioxane powders with different compositions that leads to different properties. In order to prepare polysilsesquioxane powders with higher refractive indices, we investigated preparation of polyphenylsilsesquioxane powders from phenyltrialkoxysilane. In this study polyphenylsilsesquioxane powders were obtained in low yields and their chemical and physical properties were examined.
