Active Korean churches in the Philippines can be classified into two types. First, it is the churches that are mainly engaged in missions activities targeted on local Filipinos. Second, it is the churches that target on Koreans for ministry. Most researches that have been presented about missions strategy in the Philippines until now were accumulated for the first type of churches. Meanwhile, present conditions about research on the second type of Korean churches cannot even be identified. This study will identify the present status of the second type of Korean churches that target on Koreans as well as the problems that appear in the churches to integrate it to previous researches and make a proposal of the measures. Even though Korean churches that target on Koreans in the Philippines are only focused on Koreans for ministry, the churches are built in a mission field and dispatched missionaries are in charge of the ministry, so it is considered that the Koreans should feel responsible about missions for the locals and practice regularly the moral teaching of ‘unworthy slave’ for the Filipinos, just as Jesus washed His disciples’ feet.

필리핀에서 활동 중인 한인교회는 크게 2가지 유형으로 나눠진다. 첫째, 필리핀인 을 주 전도대상으로 선교활동을 하는 교회 유형과 둘째, 한인을 주 목회대상으로 하 는 교회 유형이다. 현재까지 발표된 필리핀 선교전략 연구들의 대부분은 첫 번째 유 형의 교회들을 위한 연구들로 그 실적이 쌓여져 있는 반면, 두 번째 유형의 한인교회 에 대한 연구는 현재 실태 파악이 안 되어 있는 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 이 두 번째 유형의 한인교회의 실태와 거기서 나타난 문제점을 발 견하여 그 대안들을 기존의 연구들에 접목하여 제언해 보고자 한다. 선교사가 현지에 파송되어 교회를 세우고 아무리 한인만을 대상으로 목회를 하겠 다고 하더라도 선교지에 교회가 세워졌다는 사실은 변하지 않으며, 현지에서 생활하 고 있는 이상 현지인 선교에 대한 부담감이 없을 수 없고, 허드렛일을 하는 현지인이 라 할지라도 예수님이 제자들의 발을 닦아 주었듯이 한인교회와 성도들은 필리핀 사 람들을 위해 ‘무익한 종(Unworthy Slave)’의 모범을 정기적으로 실천해 나갈 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 필리핀의 세부와 마닐라에서 복음을 전하고 있는 한인교회들의 주일의 일상을 관찰하여 조사한 사례연구로 두 번째 유형의 한인교회가 필리핀 선교를 어떻 게 전략적으로 전개해 갈 수 있는지를 제언하고자 한다.
