The purpose of this research is to analyze the nutrition teachers' experiences in schools. This study was conducted through depth interview with 7 nutrition teachers through an analysis of the qualitative materials which are the data from in-depth interviews, field notes and materials. Data was analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological research methods. Overall 95 significant statements, 18 formulated meanings(sub-theme), and 6 theme clusters were deduced. the 6 theme clusters for the nutrition teachers experience in school were 'confusion and conflicts in the identity establishment process', 'opinion about teaching', 'need for standardized text book', 'difficulty on job accomplishment', 'awareness of irrationality of system', and 'effort for empowerment'. Findings from this study can lead us to understand the inner reality of nutrition teachers' experiences and interaction between teachers in the complicated school environment. The results suggesting nutrition education curriculum and standardized text books are needed to teach and enhance nutritional status of the students. Improvement of legal background and making a school inspector of nutrition teacher in the Office of Education Support should be intensified.

본 연구는 질적연구방법을 활용하여 영양교사들의 교직경험을 총체적이고 심층 적으로 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 기존 연구들의 제한점을 극복하기 위해 영양교사들의 교직경험을 현상학적 질적연구방법을 통해 구체적으로 파악하고자 하 였다. 영양교사들의 교직경험은 일차적으로 정체성 확립 과정에서의 혼란과 갈등이 었다. 업무수행상의 애로와 불합리한 제도 가운데서도 교사로서 수업 수행과 표준교 과서의 필요성을 직시하며 준비하고 있었으며, 긍정적인 자세로 전문성 및 역량강화 를 위한 노력을 자조적으로 계속하면서 서서히 교직문화에 적응하고 정체성을 확립 해나가고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과로 보아 영양교사가 정체성을 확립하고 교육자로서의 직무를 수행하 기 위해서는 첫째, 영양교육수업과 관련된 구체적인 하위 규정이 마련되어 영양수업 시수가 확보되고, 체계적이고 표준화된 영양교육과정의 개발 및 교과서 개발이 요구 된다. 둘째, 업무에 대한 세부지침과 업무의 재분장 뿐만 아니라 업무의 전문성 확보 를 위해서 영양장학사의 배치가 반드시 필요하다. 셋째, 영양교사는 직무분야 특성이 다르므로 업무의 특수성을 충분히 고려한 별도의 평가기준을 마련하고 평가항목을 제시하여 사기진작과 교육의 질 향상을 지향해야 한다. 넷째, 전문인으로서의 자기계 발을 위해 노력하고 긍정적인 자세로 자신의 발전을 추구할 수 있도록 직무수행도와 만족도를 높일 수 있는 현실적인 방안 마련도 필요하다.
