during the joseon dynasty, the king could participate in royal lecture after national funera(國葬). the other hand, the tenno of edo japan could be educated by royal lecturer after the official beginning of royal lecture(御書始). in the sorts of royal lecture of Joseon dynasty, we can find official lecture, such as morning royal lecture, day royal lecture and evening royal lecture. also we can find inofficial lecture, such as special royal lecture and night royal lecture. the tenno of edo japan also participated in official lecture and inofficial lecture. the aim of royal lecture of Joseon dynasty was to make king bring world peace. the other hand, the aim of royal lecturer for edo japan tenno was to make tenno know confucian teaching and prevent lapanese tradition. most text books of royal lecture of Joseon dynasty were the writings of neo confucian. but most text books of of royal lecturer for japanese tenno were the writings of old confucian. in the long run, we can conclude that the royal lecture of Joseon dynasty was mainly influences by neo confucianism but the royal lecturer for japanese tenno was mainly influences by old confucianism also japanese native religion .

조선시대 경연의 궁극적인 목표는 ‘수신세자치국평천하’에 있었다. 아울러 경연 중 국왕과 경연관들 사이에 국정이 자주 논의됨으로써 경연 자체가 국왕과 양반에 의해 주도된 조선시대 양반정치문화를 잘 드러내기도 했다. 반면 에도시대 천황 시독 의 진강목표는 첫째, ‘고도(古道)를 환히 알아 태평성대에 능히 다다르기 위한 것’과 둘째, 화가를 배워 국속을 보존하는 것이었으며, 진강 중 정치토론은 없었다. 조선후기 정규적 경연의 진강 방법은 미리 준비한 교재에 범위를 정해놓고 복습과 학습을 병행하는 방법이었다. 마찬가지로 천황의 시독 진강에서도 복습과 학습이 병행되었다. 아울러 조선후기 경연 교재는 유교경전이든 역사책이든 성리학 교재가 압도적이었으며 경연관 역시 기본적으로 성리학자라는 특징이 있다. 이에 비해 에도 시대 천황의 시독 진강에 이용된 교재는 한 당대의 유학교재 뿐만 불교, 음악, 신도 등에 관련된 교재도 있었으며 시독 역시 유학자, 스님, 음악가, 신도학자 등 다양했다. 이상과 같은 차이점들은 조선이 국왕과 양반에 의해 주도된 군주제 국가이자 주자 성리학에 경도된 국가였던 반면 에도시대의 천황은 상징 천황이면서 동시에 천황 문화는 근본적으로 당나라 율령을 모범으로 성립한 고대 율령제 시대의 천황 문화를 계승하였기에 나타났다고 할 수 있다.
