This study examines the oral mode shown in Seoul block print belonging to Pansori novels. A Pansori novel includes oral factors of Pansori as it is organized by receiving the plot and expressions of Pansori scenario. In addition, the relationship with orality cannot be overlooked, given the fact that in the age when most of people were illiterate, Pansori novels were created, so the communication or description of them inevitably depended on orality and oral narration. Therefore, the features of oral literature are thoroughly shown in the Seoul block print , which are produced from the cognitive thought framework specific to oral literature through Mnemonics. 1) From the oral thoughts and expressions, additional and repetitive discourses, typical phrase, traditionality of conceptualized knowledge and controversial tone appear. 2) For a character in the work, an unforgettably heroic and flat character favoured in oral world shows up, 3) Although the structure of work generally follows the regular construction and logic of a novel under the climax linear plot, but the event of it is partly develop through the flashback which proceeds the story around the event and the traces of episode are also contained. 4) The movement of gaze which is often shown in oral performance is observed. The orality is a common feature of Pansori literature but become gradually weaker from Chang-bon, Wan-pan to Seoul block print in order. The reason for this is that while Chang-bon and Wan-pan have the strong inclination for Pansori, Seoul block print is inclined to favor the literary style of novel, so the oral factors are largely eliminated from it. The oral tradition embedded in descriptive culture was found, and the distances from Chan-bon and Wan-pan were somewhat estimated through examination of the orality in Seoul block print.

본 연구는 판소리계 소설의 하나인 경판 춘향전 에 나타난 구술적 양상을 살 펴본 것이다. 판소리계 소설은 판소리사설의 줄거리와 표현 등을 수용하여 형성된 것이어서 판소리가 가지는 구술적인 요소들을 내재하고 있다. 또한 문맹자들이 다 수였던 시대에 판소리계 소설이 창작되면서 그것의 소통이나 서술이 구술과 구연 에 의존할 수밖에 없었다는 것을 고려하면 구술성과의 관련성을 간과할 수 없다. 그리하여 경판 춘향전 에는 기억술에 의존하는, 구술문화 특유의 인지적 사고체 계에서 산출되는 구술문학적 특징들이 두루 나타난다. 1)구술적 사고와 표현으로 첨가적이고 반복적인 언술, 정형구, 개념화된 지식의 전통성, 논쟁적 어조 등이 나 타나고, 2)작중인물에 있어서는 구술세계에서 선호하는 잊기 어려운 영웅적이고 평면적 인물이 등장한다. 3)작품의 구조는 클라이맥스 선형플롯으로서 한 편의 소 설로서의 정연한 구성과 논리를 따르려 하지만 사건의 중심으로 돌진하는 회상법 (flashback)으로 사건이 전개되는 부분이 있으며, 삽화의 흔적도 갖고 있다. 4)구술 연행에서 자주 보이는 시점의 이동현상이 보인다. 구술성은 판소리 문학이 공통적으로 가지는 자질이지만 창본, 완판, 경판의 순 으로 점차 약화된다. 창본과 완판이 판소리를 지향하는 성격이 강한 데 반해 경판은 문장체 소설을 지향하는 성격이 강하여 구술적 요소가 많이 제거되었기 때문이 다. 경판의 구술성을 살피는 작업을 통해 기술문화 속에 내재되어 있는 구술전통 을 확인할 수 있었고, 창본과 완판과의 거리도 어느 정도 가늠할 수 있었다.
