Korea has moved into the 'Aged Society' through the extended life expectancy attributed to the advanced medicine and the growth of income levels. The increase of aging population makes young people cover the cost of welfare for the aged and it often becomes a social problem as well as a factor of conflict between the young and the aged. Most discourses designate 'the aged' as a population level to have lost their roles, incomes, and health in economical activities and work-places by retirement. Although the number of the aged is increasing continually, our society tends to regard the aged as a lower class on the ground that they have no industrial capacity and financial independence. This tendency is reflected in press releases and the rest of press releases are driving out the negative and typical images on the aged. This study examined that the recognition on the aged these days in our society has relation to poverty, disease, loneliness, alienation, and idleness through analysis of corpus in the discourse analysis. Also this examined problems of our recognition shown in our phenomena of language through aspect of address terms and raised the need of multidisciplinary introspection based on that. Furthermore, this study proposes the need of recognition change on the aged, negative discourses into active and positive ones.

의학기술의 발전과 소득수준의 증가로 평균기대 수명이 연장되어 우리나라도 고령화 사회로 진입했다. 노인인구 증가는 오늘의 젊은이들에게 내일의 복지비용 을충당하게 하는 사회문제가 되어 세대 간갈등 유발 요인이 되기도 한다. 대다수 의 담론이 노인을 경제적 활동이나 노동현장에서 은퇴하여 역할 상실과 건강과 소득을 상실한 인구 층으로 지칭하고 있다. 노령인구의 증가세에도 불구하고 우리 사회는 여전히 노인을 생산능력이 없고 경제적 자립이 어렵다는 이유로 자존감이 매우 낮은 계층으로 인식하는 경향이 있고 대다수의 언어 자료에도 그러한 인식이 반영되어 노인에 대한 부정적이고 전형적인 이미지를 구축해내고 있다. 이글에서 는 노인에 대한 비판적 담론분석의 입장에서 말뭉치 자료를 분석하여 우리사회에 퍼져 있는 노인에 대한 인식태도가 빈곤, 질병, 고독과 소외, 무위와 관련 있음을 밝혔다. 그리고 노인에 대한 호칭어의 양상을 통해 언어 현상에 나타난 우리 인식 의 문제점을 알아보고 이를 바탕으로 노인에 대한 인문학적 성찰의 필요성을 제기 하면서 노인에 대한 부정적 담론을 적극적이고 긍정적인 담론으로의 인식전환이 필요함을 알리고자 하였다.
