Korean Ministry of Agriculture Food & Rural Affairs(MAFRA) and Food Education Public Network(FEPN) published a food education textbook called‘Growing I by Right Dietary Life’in 2018 for the free semester of middle school. Free semester is a system to promote the dream and talent of middle school students and consists of curriculum based programs or career searching, selected themes, arts and physical education, and club activities. Because this textbook was first developed by the theme of right dietary life or sustainable dietary life pursuing environment, health and care, the satisfaction level and appropriateness of the textbook was examined during December 2018~ January 2019 by an online survey from 125 middle school teachers who had implemented the book for their free semester program. The teachers used the book for subject class(56.8%), selected themes(20.5%), and club activities (15.9%), and used as 1 hour(50.0%) or 2 hour(33.8%) activities. The satisfaction levels for the 8 units were high enough by ranging 4.04~4.36 out of 5.0 Likert scale except the unit 2 of ‘Introduction of traditional market’(3.93). Respondents answered that the textbook provided the solutions for the dietary problems of middle school students(77.6%), was effective for the career experience and searching(68.8%), and is appropriate for its study contents and hours(70.1%). Also, they evaluated the book to be helpful for the understanding of 3 core values of right dietary life, environment, health and care, and for the developing food literacy and career searching(80.1%), and improved the teachers’perception and behavior of dietary life as well(77.6%). The facts that total 83.8% evaluated its usefulness for free semester, and 82.6% expressed their willingness to recommend to other teachers, proved its effectiveness as a free semester textbook. In addition, it was evaluated as a good textbook having rich contents, activity-based contents, and helpful for understanding food system and career searching. Therefore, this food education textbook could be utilized for the free semester of whole middle schools in the country by collaboration and advertisement with provincial education offices as well as teacher training, and one for the high school students could be developed later.

농림축산식품부와 (사)식생활교육국민네트워크는 중학교 자유학기제에 활용할 수 있도록 2018년‘바른 식생활 로 성장하는 나’라는 식생활교육 교재를 개발하였다. 자유학기제는 중학생들의 꿈과 끼를 키워줄 수 있도록 마련 된 제도로, 교육과정 또는 진로탐색, 주제선택, 예술체육, 동아리 활동으로 구분되어 추진되고 있으나, 환경, 건 강, 배려의 바른 식생활 또는 지속가능한 식생활을 주제로 자유학기제에 적합하도록 개발된 교재로는 처음 개발 된 것이다. 이 교재를 채택하여 중학교 자유학기제에 시범적용을 실시한 전국 125개 중학교 교사를 대상으로, 2018년 12월부터 2019년 1월 사이에 구글드라이브를 활용하여 교재에 대한 온라인 만족도 조사를 실시하였다. 설문에 응답한 중학교 교사들은, 교과수업(56.8%), 주제선택(20.5%), 그리고 동아리 활동(15.9%)에 위 교재 를 활용하였고, 1차시(50.0%)또는 2차시(33.8%)를 묶어 수업을 진행하였다. 총 8개 단원에 대한 만족도는 5.0 리커트 척도로 ‘우리 마을 전통시장을 소개해요’(3.93) 단원을 제외하고는 모두 4.04~4.36으로 높게 나타났다. 응 답자들은 교재가 중학생들의 식생활 문제에 대한 해결방안을 제시하였고(77.6%), 식생활 분야 진로체험 및 진토탐 색에 효과가 있으며(68.8%), 차시별 학습 분량 및 수업시간이 적절하다고(70.1%) 하였다. 또한 환경, 건강, 배려 의 바른 식생활교육 가치를 이해하고 식생활 역량과 진로를 탐색하는데 도움을 주었으며(80.1%), 교사들도 본 교 재의 활용 후 바른 식생활에 대한 인식과 행태가 개선되었다고(77.6%) 응답하였다. 또한 응답자의 83.8%는 이 교 재가 중학교 자유학기(년)제 교재로 유용하다고 하였으며, 82.6%는 다른 교사에게 추천하겠다고 하여 교재의 효과 성을 확인할 수 있었다. 자유기술 내용에서도 교사들은 자유학기 교재로 매우 좋으며, 자료가 풍부하고, 활동중심이 며, 푸드시스템에 대한 이해와 직업탐색에 유용하다고 응답하였고, 고등학교 교재의 개발 필요성도 제안하였다. 따 라서 자유학기제 교재로서의 유용성이 입증된 ‘바른 식생활로 성장하는 나’교재는, 향후 시도교육청과의 협력 홍보 및 교사대상 직무연수의 실시로 전국 중학교 자유학기에 확대 보급되어 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
