The curriculum for multicultural society experts was run for the purpose of nurturing professional and integrated multicultural professionals. Currently, multicultural social experts can be produced through degree programs established in undergraduate and graduate schools. It is time to review the practical use of existing experts in multicultural society as well as whether a specialist is needed in the field. This study investigates the basic perception of related competence as a preliminary task to identify the competencies required for multicultural social professionals. As a result of the survey, it was found that the most important thing is the right understanding of the society 's multicultural phenomena and knowledge about related institutions. Also, in cultural competence, we regarded humility for other cultures and recognition of cultural diversity as important. Future research will utilize advanced analysis methods to identify the competency factors needed for multicultural social workers.

전문적이고 통합적인 다문화 전문인력을 양성하기 위한 목적에서 다문화사회 전문가 교육과정이 운영되었으며, 현재는 학부 및 대학원에 설치된 학위과정을 통해 다문화사회 전문가가 배출될 수 있 도록 하고 있다. 다문화사회 전문가가 배출된 지 10년이 가까이 되고 있는 지금 시점에서, 기존에 배 출된 다문화사회 전문가의 활용 방안과 함께 현장에서 필요로 하는 전문가가 배출되고 있는지에 대 한 근본적인 검토가 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 다문화사회 전문가에게 요구되는 역량 을 규명하기 위한 탐색적･사전적 작업으로서 관련된 역량에 대한 기초적인 인식을 조사하였다. 조사 결과, 우리 사회의 다문화 현상에 대한 올바른 이해와 관련 제도에 대한 지식을 가장 중요한 것으로 보았으며, 문화적 역량에 있어서는 타 문화에 대한 겸손함과 문화적 다양성에 대한 인식 등을 중요 하게 보았다. 추후 연구에서는 고도화된 분석방법을 활용하여 다문화사회 전문가에게 필요한 역량 요인을 발굴할 예정이다.
