Lee, Yugeong, Kim, Sungsoo. 2015. “The Aspect of Linguistic Communication of North-Korea Refugees within South-Korea Society.” The Sociolinguistic Journal of Korea 23(3). The goal of this study was to inspect the various problematic aspects of the North-Korea Refugees’ communicative interactions with people of South-Korea communities, and to establish basic data with which can support their stable settlement into our society. To this end, a series of in-depth interviews with 15 North-Korea Refugees who have stayed in 1-5 years within South Korea were conducted. And the participants’ self reports about their own experiences in linguistic communication at various circumstances were looked into. The results were as follows. The failures and breakdown in communication of participants were resulted from problems in three sub linguistics areas. That is, the semantic, suprasegmental, pragmatic areas of linguistic communication. The North-Korea Refugees had some difficulties in these areas because of features heterogeneously different from own native North-Korean one. These results suggested that more systematic efforts to construct the efficient communication training program should be needed for North-Korea Refugees’ healthy settlement and living in our society. 본 연구는 북한이탈주민들의 체험을 바탕으로 이들이 남한사회 적응과정에서 지속적으로 겪어왔던 의사소통 적 어려움의 구체적 양상과 이로부터 이어진 안정적인 남한사회 정착의 어려움을 살펴봄으로써 이들이 우리 사 회의 진정한 구성원으로 동화될 수 있도록 돕기 위한 실증적인 기초자료를 마련하기 위한 것이다. 북한이탈주민 의 탈북은 휴전 이후 한해 10명 이내에 불과했지만, 2006년 연간 2,000명대 진임한 이후 꾸준히 남한사회에 이주하여, 2014 년 약 27,518명에 이르렀다. 정부는 이들의 안정적인 적응과 정착을 위해 북한이탈주민정착사무소(하나원)와 전국 지역적응 센터(하나센터)에서 교육을 시행한다. 그러나 대부분의 북한이탈주민들은 여전히 남한사회에 안정적으로 정착하지 못하고, 그 이유는 남북한 간의 상이한 언어차이로 인한 의사소통에서의 문제인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 대상들이 구체적인 상황 맥락 속에서 경험한 사례에 접근하여 남한사회에 유입되어 겪는 언어 및 의사소통 어려 움, 갈등의 구체적 양상과 이로인해 야기된 안정적인 남한사회 정착의 어려움에 관해 알아볼 필요가 있다. 그리하여 본 연 구에서는 북한이탈주민들이 탈북과정부터 시작하여 남한사회에 정착하는 과정에서 이들이 겪은 다양한 의사소통 및 상호작 용에서의 어려움이나 실패 경험에 대한 대화를 통해 이들의 언어 적응 양상을 분석하여 살피고자 하였다. 남한입국 후 5년 이내인 북한이탈주민 15명을 대상으로 이들과의 대화 인터뷰를 통해 수집된 대상들의 자기 진술과 체험을 분석하여 의사소 통상의 경함과 언어적 적응 실태 및 기저하는 하위 언어학적 관련 변인들을 구체적으로 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 이는 언어 적 응 실태를 파악하고 이들 개인의 적응과 관련된 해결책을 수립할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 향후 통일 시대에 일어날 수 있는 건 강한 사회 통합을 모색해 본다는 점에서도 의의가 있을 것이다.
