This article is about a book of poet named Unchukcho. This books is stored in the archives of Dongguk Temple in Gunsan, which has a large number of ancient documents of the Japanese colonial period. I was first introduced to this material by participating in the project. I thought that this book showed good understanding of maritime experience of intellectuals who lived in the latter half of the nineteenth century. Therefore, I will examine the details of this book. In this book, the writer records the journey of the sea route made from October 24th to December 11th of the same year for 50 days in 77 poem. Unfortunately, the authorship can not be confirmed because the information about the author is not separately recorded. Otherwise, I can confirm the name of this companion, Lee Dal-shin, and it is hard to know what the person is. The time of writing is specified on the cover and the end, as the year of the year 癸巳年. It should also be a little more precise, but at this point it is presumed to be the tenth year of 1893. For most people, the sea route is a relatively rare and unfamiliar experience. In addition, the use of a public transport route is limited to the supervision of the delivery of an envoy or a rowing passenger. It is the result of a special experience in which the authors leave only a handful of memories left in the context of using the ship for such official purposes. This paper shows the unique aspect of the use of the boat in the late 19th century, and it is worthy of study as it is a rare example of a literary figure of an impression felt by a private author using a public transportation system . Therefore, at this stage, we will focus on the aspect of the literary form of the sea experience and try to supplement the related data. On the other hand, it is expected that it will be used as a supplementary data on the situation of transportation of the grains in the latter half of the 19th century which remains unresolved.

본 논문은 19세기 후반에 미상(未詳)의 조운(漕運) 감독에 의해 작성된 것으로 추정되는 해상 체험 한시(漢詩)를 수록한 자료인 『운축초(韻軸抄)』를 소개하고, 이 자료를 통해 확인 가능한 당시 조운 운송 경로와 일정을 재구한 후, 여기에 수록된 한시 77수의 양상과 특징을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이 자료는 현재 일제강점기 자료를 다수 소장하고 있는 군산 동국사(東國寺)에 소장되어 있다. 이 책을 통해서 1893년 계사년 10월 24일부터 12월 11일까지 약 50일간의 해상 여정이 있었음을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 그 기간 동안 저자가 지은 77수의 한시가 수록되어 있다. 하지만 아쉽게도 별도의 저자 정보를 확인할 수 없는 관계로 정확한 저자와 작성 시기를 확정하기는 어렵다. 그러나 수록 한시를 통해 살펴볼 때 19세기 후반의 조운 감독 과정에서 작성한 자료임은 분명하며, 감독관 역할을 수행한 어느 한 개인의 해상체험을 기록한 자료라는 점에서 문학사뿐만 아니라 사회사적으로도 제법 큰 의미를 지닌다고 할 수 있다. 전근대시기에 대부분의 사람들에게 바다 체험은 드물고 희귀한 경험에 해당하였다. 더욱이 공무로 뱃길을 이용하는 일은 국외로 나가는 사신이나 조운 운반시의 감독 정도로 제한된 경험이다. 이 책의 저자는 바로 그러한 상황에서 자신의 체험을 문학적으로 형상화하고자 노력하였다. 따라서 공무 목적으로 뱃길을 이용하는 상황 속에서 저자가 남긴 한시가 오롯이 남아 있는 특별한 경험의 산물이라고 할 수 있다. 여기에 수록된 한시의 내용을 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 특징을 확인할 수 있었다. 첫째, 뱃길에 익숙하지 않은 필자가 해상에서 겪은 두려움, 그리고 그 과정에서 자연스럽게 떠올린 향수(鄕愁)를 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 군산에 도착하여 공무를 수행하는 과정에서 겪을 수밖에 없었던 관리들의 전횡을 한시로 남겼다. 셋째, 저자가 여정 중에 만난 새로운 곳들의 지명을 활용하여 희작들을 남겼다. 또한 이를 통해서는 지리 정보를 확인할 수 있다는 점도 의미가 있다. 본 논문에서는 확인 가능한 자료의 한계, 그리고 필자의 능력 부족으로 말미암아 정치한 분석을 이끌어내지는 못했다. 부족하나마 향후 유관 자료를 장악하고 있는 연구자의 시선을 통해 신발굴 자료로서의 의의를 부여받고 후속 연구의 발판이 되기를 기대한다.
