The purpose of this study is to examine the impression management strategies for the self-directing of silver female line dancers by Goffman‘s theatrical analysis and to deepen their self-image. A case study was adopted for this purpose. The research participants selected eight female silver line dancers(51~60) from KoSCAA. Data analysis was performed by obtaining related data. In order to ensure the truthfulness and ethics of the data, triangulation method, peer-to-peer consultation, reflective subjectivity, in-depth technology, and inspection of research participants were utilized. According to the Goffman perspective, the impression management strategy for self-direction of the silver female line dancer can be recognized in the performance situation and daily life. First, it's in the performance situation is charming divergence for self-directing, body show for eye-gaze extortion, concealing of the inner self, and ritual self- reflection. Second, it is directed in everyday life is image consumption and image making for appearance. From the Goffman point of view, silver female line dancers performed information control, formal and public rituals, mystification, and concealment for self-direction. Through their official rituals, they saved their face, protected themselves and kept their face, and made a mystery through image making.

본 연구는 Goffman의 연극학적 분석으로 실버여성라인댄서의 자아연출을 위한 인상관리전략을 심층적으로 구명하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 사례연구를 채택하였다. 연구참여자는 한국문화예술협회의 실버여성라인댄서(51~60세)를 유목적 표집으로 8명 선정하였다. 자료분석은 관련된 자료를 확보하여 텍스트분석을 실시하였다. 자료의 진실성과 윤리성을 확보하기 위해 삼각검증법, 동료간 협의, 반성적 주관성, 심층기술, 연구참여자의 점검 등을 활용하였다. Goffman관점에 따른 실버여성라인댄서의 자아연출을 위한 인상관리전략은 공연상황과 일상에서 알아볼 수 있다. 첫째, 공연상황에서 연출되는 연극학적 인상관리전략은 실버여성라인댄서의 자아연출을 위한 매력발산, 시선강탈을 위한 몸 과시, 자기내면에 대한 사실은폐, 의례적인 자아성찰이다. 둘째, 일상에서 연출되는 인상관리전략은 외모를 위한 이미지소비, 이미지 메이킹이다. 즉, Goffman관점에서 실버여성라인댄서들은 자아연출을 위해 정보통제와 공적인 의례모습, 신비화, 사실은폐 등이 이루어졌다. 그들은 공적인 의례적 모습을 통해 체면을 살리고 자신을 보호하여 체면을 지키고 있었으며, 이미지 메이킹을 통해 신비감을 연출했다.
