The purpose of this study is to develope and adapt an index and measuring tools of cultural capital. Since Bourdieu introduced the concept of cultural capital it has been a subject of various researchers as a determinant of personal cultural taste and demand of culture and art. However due to the ambiguity and equivocality the concept has it was difficult to develop and adapt a consistent measuring tools of cultural capital. So in this study an index for inherited cultural capital and acquired cultural capital suitable for circumstances in South Korea is developed by utilizing prior studies from Bouridieu and DiMaggio. Questionnaires were written based on the indices and answered by citizens of Seoul to verify the reliability of the indices. As a result of the verification the model displayed significantly high goodness of fit.

이 연구의 목적은 우리 사회에 적합한 문화자본의 측정 지표를 개발하는데 있다. 부르디외가 문화자본 개념을 제시한 이래, 문화자본은 개인의 문화적 취향 및 문화예술 수요 결정요인으로 많은 연구의 대상이 되고 있지만 그 개념이 갖는 모호성 및 다의성으로 인하여 일관성 있는 측정도구의 개발 및 적용이 어려운 실정이었다. 이에 따라 이 연구에서는 부르디외와 디마지오 등 기존 연구 결과를 활용하여 우리 실정에 맞도록 상속 문화자본과 획득 문화자본의 측정 지표를 개발하였다. 그리고 이러한 측정 지표에 기반한 설문지를 구성하고, 서울시민을 대상으로 조사를 하여 측정지표의 신뢰성과 타당성을 검증하였다. 검증결과 모형의 적합도가 상당히 높은 것으로 나타났다.
