The purpose of this paper is to analyze the context and contextual effect in the text and screen translation. In the analysis of text translation materials, this study explains the cases focusing on the linguistic context and describes the three kinds of contextual effects -- strengthening, abandonment, contextual implication. And in the analysis of screen translation materials, this study also explains the cases focusing on the nonlinguistic context and describes the same kinds of contextual effects. The result of this study can give some directions to translate the materials in a way that fits the given context and increases the contextual effect as far as possible. (Jeju National University)
