Journal of the International Network for Korean Language and Culture 16-1, 97-129. The purpose of this study is to provide an analysis of research-based findings and trends related to Vietnamese Korean language learners (hereafter “Vietnamese learners”). This paper will present a direction for future research on this subject and outline relevant research tasks therein. For this purpose, we used “Vietnamese learners” as a search term and analyzed the various types of research based on period, type, and subject. First, the number of Vietnamese learners staying in Korea has risen sharply since 2016. This phenomenon has also affected the amount of research surrounding Vietnamese learners. Although the amount of research on Vietnamese learners had been fluctuating since 1997, the number of studies has been significantly and consistently increasing since 2016. Second, we found that 51% of all the research subjects were studied by Vietnamese researchers and mainly focused on grammar or vocabulary in the Korean language education curriculum. The increasing number of Vietnamese researchers is also deeply related to the increase in Vietnamese learners, and a reflection of the increasing demand for Korean language teachers in Vietnam. Finally, as a result of our analysis per subject, we discovered that the major research topic was “Korean language education contents and curriculum”, which accounted for 65% of all the subjects. In terms of the sub-themes, the ratio was found to be in the order (largest to smallest) of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, phonetics, culture, and literature, which resulted in a different order of analysis results from the ranking of research areas conducted by Vietnamese researchers. As the number of Vietnamese learners increases, it is necessary to cultivate more professional teachers and conduct balanced research on the topics of Korean language education. 본 연구에서는 베트남 한국어 학습자와 관련된 연구물을 분석하고그 동향을 고찰하여 향후 연구 방향과 과제를 제언하고자 한다. 이를위하여 ‘베트남 (한국어) 학습자’를 검색어로 선정 문헌조사를 통해시기별, 유형별, 주제별로 어떠한 연구가 이루어져 왔는지 분석하였다. 최종 분석 대상물은 총 논문 수는 337편이며 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내 체류 베트남 학습자의 수는 2016년을 기점으로 큰 폭으로상승하였고 이런 현상은 베트남 학습자와 관련된 연구물의 수적 변화에도 영향을 주었는데 2016년부터 편수가 크게 급증하였다. 또한전체 연구물 중에서 약 51%는 베트남 인 연구자의 논문으로 ‘문법’이나 ‘어휘’를 주제로 한 연구가 주를 이루었다. 베트남 국적의 연구자의 연구물이 늘었다는 것은 베트남 학습자의 양적 증가와도 깊은 관련이 있으며 현지에서의 한국어교원의 수요가 늘고 있다는 것을 방증한다. 마지막으로 주제별로 분석을 한 결과 역시 가장 많은 비중을차지한 주제는 ‘한국어교육 내용’ 분야로 전체 약 65%를 차지하였다. 하위 주제별로 살펴보면 ‘어휘’, ‘발음’, ‘문법’, ‘화용’, ‘문화’, ‘문학’ 의 순으로 베트남인 연구자의 연구물의 순위와는 약간 상이한 순으로 분석되었다. 앞으로 한국어교육 주제별로 균형 있는 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이며 베트남 학습자의 특성을 잘 파악하고 효과적인 한국어 교육이 가능한 전문 교원 양성이 필요하다. 이 연구는 베트남 학습자에 대한 국내 연구의 현황을 파악하고 향후 이들에 대한 연구 방향 설정을 위한 시사점을 도출하였다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.
