This paper investigates the styles of painters who developed the 'radical and ultraconservative painting style' among the painters in the Joseon painting. There are some characters who write or write mad paintings when they customize Korean paintings, and some have developed 'the ultraconservative painting style' style. The 'radical and ultraconservative painting style' of this kind of art creation act contains a simple life expressing his feelings freely or pursuing reclusion. Among the painters of the Joseon Dynasty, the characters who put their madness in their paintings are living in a mad life, and through the paradoxical way of saying 'the right words are like the opposite', or drinking alcohol and ignoring the law and the law He would reveal his madness. 본고는 조선조 화가 중 狂狷 畵風을 전개한 화가들의 인간됨됨이와 성향을 연구한 것이다. 한국회화사를 통관할 때 조선조에는 광기어린 그림을 그린 몇몇 인물들이 있고, 아울러 狷者 화풍을 전개한 인물도 있다. 이같은 광견풍의 예술창작 행위에는 狂者의 縱情任性 혹은 放蕩驕恣하는 차원에서 행해진 광기어린 자유로운 몸짓이나 狷者가 추구한 隱逸적 삶과 담백한 삶이 담겨 있다. 조선조 화가 중에 광기어린 삶을 살면서 자신의 광기를 화폭에 담은 화가들은 자신을 스스로 비하하는 ‘正言若反’의 역설적 방식을 통해서, 혹은 술을 마시고 禮法과 법도를 무시한 행위를 통해 자신의 광기를 드러내곤 하였다. 구체적으로는 異端 화풍을 열었다고 평가된 金明國의 酒狂식의 행동거지, ‘七七’이라 하여 스스로를 낮춤으로써 역설적으로 세상을 비웃었던 毫生館 崔北식의 행동거지, 林熙之의 생사를 초월한 狂誕한 행동거지 등과 같은 광기어린 행위가 그것이다. 狷者畵家로는 자신의 狷介함과 세속에 아첨하지 않음을 보인 李麟祥이 대표적이고, 倪瓚을 닮고자 한 田琦는 類似狷者 화풍을 전개하기도 하였다. 조선조를 지배한 주자의 중화화풍 속에서도 이런 광견화풍은 程朱理學 중심주의의 판에 박힌 中和화풍에서 벗어나 조선조 화풍을 보다 풍요롭게 했다는 의의가 있다.
