The most necessary viewpoint in the study of modern poetry rhythm is to pay attention to how the prosodic elements based on our traditional poetry are changed in modern poetry and recreated in modern rhythm. However, it is the poem of Jung Ji-yong that can explain this view clearly and clearly. His poetry has reconstructed the traditional poetry’s tone rate to a modern language sense. It has created a new dimension of language by associating the metrical device and its operating system, which are being embodied in our traditional cigars, with modern language and modern expression of emotion. I have studied this poem in more detail about how the poet made a new rhyme on the basis of the rhythm of the traditional poetry. The poetry of Jung Ji-yong utilizes the traditional rate of poetry, the proper rate. Nevertheless, in his poems, it is hard to find traditional tune or traditional rhythm, such as Jeonghan which can be felt in the works of poets who succeeded the traditional kyung, generally called folk song poet. His poetry exploits the pursuit of imitativeism, his poetic orientation, and the transformation of the tone rate based on the traditional rhyme, pioneering the world of new theater as a modernist. In this sense, he created a contemporary poetry through the rhyme, which can be regarded as a modern succession of the traditional rhyme in a true sense.

현대시 운율 연구에서 가장 필요한 관점은 우리의 전통시가에 기초하고 있는 운 율적 요소가 현대시에서 어떻게 변화되어 현대적 운율로 재창조되어 있는가에 주목 하는 것이다. 그런데 이러한 관점을 가장 선명하게 잘 설명해줄 수 있는 것이 바로 정지용의 시이다. 그의 시는 전통시가의 음보율을 현대적 언어감각에 맞게 재구성 해냈다. 우리의 전통시가에서 구현되고 있는 음보라는 율격적 장치와 그것의 운용 체계를 현대적 언어 구사와 현대적 정서 표현과 결부시켜 언어의 새로운 차원을 만 들어 냈다는 것이다. 본고는 이런 그의 시가 전통시가의 운율의 기초에서 어떤 방식 으로 새로운 운율을 만들어 나갔는지 좀 더 자세히 살펴보았다. 정지용의 시는 우리의 전통적 율격인 음보율을 적절히 활용하고 있다. 그럼에도 그의 시에서는 전통 율격을 계승한, 일반적으로 민요조 시인이라 불리어지는 시인 들의 작품에서 느낄 수 있는 정한 등의 전통적 정조나 전통적 가락을 찾아보기 힘들다. 그의 시는 그의 시적 지향인 이미지즘의 추구와 모더니스트로서의 새로운 시어 의 세계를 개척해가는 데 전통 운율에 기초한 음보율의 변형을 효과적으로 활용하 고 있다. 이런 점에서 그는 운율을 통해 현대적 시어를 창조하였고, 이를 통해 진정 한 의미에서 전통운율의 현대적 계승을 이루었다고 평가될 수 있다.
