The interior of Dancheong of Royal Myeongjeongjeon Chamber is the only examples of Dancheong in Royal Palace of Joseon dynasty. Dancheong can be inferred with the early Royal Palace of Joseon even though there is no existence of Dancheong. It is an important research to realize the changes after the mid Joseon. In order to restore the structure of interior Dancheong in Myeongjeongjeon Chamber, it was estimated to be painted around the eighth year of King Kwanghaegun (in 1616 AD). It also estimated the relevant Dancheong pigments which was shown used in Myeongjeongjeon Chamber. To add to that, selection was made with the research from material and study was made. With this consideration, the restructure progress was made using the same Dancheong pigments material. Th is thesis reenacted the material of Dancheong with the left remains and historical studies. If the study is undertaken with the same material used in cultural assets Dancheong works, it would show a great outcome in terms of the restructure.

명정전의 내부단청은 조선 중기 궁궐 정전 단청의 원형을 살펴볼 수 있는 유일 한 예이다. 현재 조선 초기 궁궐의 단청유구가 남아있지 않은 상황에서 명정전의 내부단청을 통해 조선 초기 궁궐 정전의 단청유형을 유추할 수 있다. 또한 중기 이 후의 변화 과정 등을 파악할 수 있는 중요한 자료가 된다. 명정전 내부단청의 원형 을 복원하기 위해 내부 단청시기가 중건 당시인 광해군 8년(1616)임을 추정하고, 17세기 전반의 사료와 의궤에 나타난 단청안료의 내역을 조사했다. 이후 명정전 에서 보여지는 안료들과 일치하는 안료를 추정했다. 여기에 현대 과학적인 성분 분석이 진행된 궁궐과 사찰의 단청 안료를 선별했다. 이러한 고찰을 바탕으로 현 재 생산되는 동일 성분의 안료를 사용하여 현상 및 복원모사를 진행했다. 이 논문에서는 현재 남아 있는 유구와 문헌 기록을 통해 중건당시 단청의 원형을 동일재 료와 기법으로 재현해 보았다. 이러한 연구에 더하여 현재 행해지는 문화재 단청 공사에서 원본과 동일한 성분의 재료를 사용한 복원 단청이 실행된다면 그 원형 보전에 더 중요한 진전이 이루어질 것으로 기대된다.
