The purpose of this study is to investigate the causes and patterns of self-perceived conflicts through the experiences of elementary school male teachers. Through this, with changes in the teaching society, to analyze the implications of the conflicts experienced by the male teachers in and out of the school and to describe the story related to their experiences. To achieve this goal, using narrative inquiry the study organized the text through interviews with 10 male teachers who are between 20-40 years who have 1-18 years of teaching career. The results of this study are as follows: First, there were differences in the patterns of conflict experienced by male teachers both inside and outside the school according to their teaching career. Second, some of the conflicts experienced by the male teachers were caused by the gap in perception between the old generation with the old - fashioned minds and the new generation with the gender equality - based minds. Third, the conflict experienced by the male teacher has been expanded and amplified due to the gender roles expectation and stereotyping of gender roles.

이 연구는 초등학교 남교사의 경험을 통해 그들이 스스로 인식하는 갈등의 원인과 양상을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 통해 교직사회 변화와 함께 학교 안팎에서 남교사들이 경험하는 갈등의 의미를 분석하고, 그들의 경험과 관련한 이야기를 서술하고자 하였다. 이 연구는 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 교직경력 1-18년 사이의 20-40대 남교사 10명을 대상으로 내러티브 탐구방법을 활용한 면담을 통해 텍스트를 구성하였다. 이 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교직경력에 따라 학교 안팎에서 남교사가 경험하는 갈등 양상에 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 남교사들이 경험하는 갈등의 일부 원인은 구시대적인 사고관을 가진 기성세대와 양성평등한 사고관을 가진 신세대간의 인식차이에 기인하고 있었다. 셋째, 남교사가 경험하는 갈등은 성역할기대와 성역할 고정관념으로 인해 더욱 확대·증폭되고 있었다.
