This paper investigates the main trend of Korean companies' investment to Vietnam and its impacts on the local society and economy. In addition, this study, mainly based on a field research in Northern Vietnam, introspects the problems of Vietnamese labors working at Korean factories and their implications for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Korea's foreign direct investment in Vietnam has soared over the past decade. Korea is the largest foreign investor in Vietnam. Since 2016, Korean-invested firms in Vietnam contributed almost a third of the total value of Vietnam’s exports and provided around 700,000 jobs domestically. For the electronics industry and the apparel industry alike, the employment relations within Korean firms operating in Vietnam seem to have improved during the process of responding to the monitoring of international civil society and the government supervision and regulatory reform. However, many labors suffer from problems of Korean factories such as, unsafe and precarious working conditions, high risks of occupational health problems particularly in electronics industry, gender discrimination in recruitment and promotion, excessive working hours and inadequate wages, and lack of Industrial relations and social dialogues for solution.

이 연구는 베트남 내 한국인 투자기업의 실태와 사회경제적 영향과 문제점에 관해 고찰하고, 기업의 사회공헌활동(CSR)의 관점에서 개선방안을 찾는 것을 목표로 한다. 베트남에서 한국기업의 투자가 증가하면서 베트남 사회경제발전에서 한국기업이 중요한역할을 하고 있다는 인식도 확산되고 있으나 한국기업이 파생하는 여러 문제들에 대해우려하는 시각도 커지고 있다. 한국인 투자기업이 베트남 사회가 우려하고 있는 불법과갈등의 요소를 해결하고 베트남 사회경제 포괄적이고 지속적인 발전에 기여할 수 있도록 노력하는 조치가 필요한 시점이다. 이 논문은 첫째, 베트남에서 시장경제가 확산되고외국인직접투자가 증가하는 상황에서 한국, 베트남 양국 간 협력의 확대에 따른 베트남의 경제적 변화에 대해 고찰한다. 특히 한국기업의 투자가 베트남의 산업구조 및 산업 지역의 변화에 미치는 영향을 살펴본다. 둘째, 베트남 내 한국기업의 문제점과 개선 과제에대해 기술한다. 먼저 베트남 시장의 매력요소와 한국투자기업의 특징에 관하여 고찰한후, 섬유산업과 전자산업 분야에 초점을 두고 한국기업의 노동자들이 겪고 있는 문제점을 중심으로 한국기업이 개선해야 할 과제가 무엇인지 살펴보고자 한다. 한국 투자기업에 고용된 베트남 노동자들의 상태와 욕구에 관한 베트남 사람들의 이야기에 주목할 것이다. 셋째, 한국 기업의 지속가능 경영과 양국의 지속가능한 교류협력에 반드시 필요하다고 판단되는 기업의 사회적 책임의 관점에서 대안을 찾아본다.
