The stone used Bunhwangsa pagoda is andesite. This stone isn’t checked around Gyeongju. Therefore, checking the result of surrounding area, it is understood the identical things of Dangsari-Andesite. Dnagsari-andesite is widely spread around Dangsadong in Ulsan. The state of andesite is same with stone used Bunhwangsa pagoda and structural features. The feature is identical with sheeting joint and red oxidation on the stone used pagoda. The structural features of these stones are come off with oxidized side or easy to quarry stones. So it appears the optimum production state as the materials of pagoda. The recognition of these stones are known from the Three Kingdoms era’s people according to checking remains. Also, through this stone, we thought that it had something to do with Buddhist culture of this area As of now, we don't check exact trace of stone pit but it seems reasonable that this is a range of Dangsari-Andesite.

경주 분황사 모전석탑에 사용된 석재는 안산암 재질에 해당하는데 경주 인근에서몇 곳의 후보지가 확인된다. 후보지를 답사한 결과 울산 당사동 일대에 분포하는 당사리안산암과 외형 및 암석의 구조적 특징이 동일한 것으로 파악되었다. 당사리안산암의 분포는울산 당사동 일대에 널리 분포하는데 산출상태가 석탑에 사용된 석재에서 보이는 판상의절리, 암자색 산화철 성분의 산화면 등이 동일하다. 특히 암자색으로 산화되는 절리면은후대에 풍화된 것이 아니고 절리면을 따라 산화된 것이다. 이러한 암석의 구조적인 특징은 산화된 면을 따라 절리되거나 채석을 하기에 용이하여 석탑의 재료로서 최적의 산출 상태를 보인다. 석재의 인식은 당사리안산암 산지 일대의 유적을 검토한 결과 강동지역에 거점을 두고 생활했던 삼국시대인들로 부터 알려졌을 것으로 추정하였고 이 지역의 불교문화와도 관련이 있을 가능성을 제시하였다. 현재로서는 정확한 채석지의 흔적을 확인할 수는없기 때문에 석재가 다량으로 확인되는 계곡부와 해안가의 석재를 채석하여 사용한 것으로 추정하였으나 당사리안산암이 분포하는 일대로 넓게 비정하는 것이 합리적이라고 판단된다.
