This study aims to provide fundamental data for stable settlement and adaptation in Korean society by making in-depth investigation into divorce process and life experience perceived by married immigrant women. For this study, there was an in-depth interview with 6 married immigrant women, who experienced family disorganization. Based on the collected data, a code system was established, and 3 categories, 14 theme clusters and 42 detailed themes were extracted. The study result shows the married immigrant women were disconnected from social networks, because they got divorced when they were not prepared for future lives, and they were living a tough life due to poverty. Based on this study result, this study suggests some practical plans, as follows. First, they should be connected to specialized organizations to heal their wounds and adapt to lives after divorce. Second, there is a need to strengthen a public support system to help their economic independence and solve housing problems. Third, it is required to develop support plans, which integrate child caring service and home visiting education service. Fourth, a practical support to guarantee costs of living and benefits rights temporarily should be provided, even when immigrant single mothers with low incomes get jobs. In conclusion, it is thought that further research would need to consider difficulties of divorced immigrant women in living and adapting, depending on life cycles and ages of children.

본 연구는 결혼이주여성이 인식하는 이혼 과정과 이후 삶의 경험을 심도있게 탐색하여 한국사회에 안정적인 정착과 적응을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 가족해체를 경험한 결혼이주여성 6명을 대 상으로 심층면접을 진행하였으며 수집된 자료는 코드체계를 마련하고 유형을 3개의 범주와 14개의 주제모음, 42 개의 세부주제로 추출하였다. 본 연구의 결과 이주여성들은 이혼으로 내몰린 상황에서 미래의 삶에 대한 준비가 없는 상태로 이혼을 하여 사회적 관계망이 단절되고 빈곤으로 인해 고단한 삶을 살고 있었다. 따라서 본 연구결 과를 바탕으로 하는 실천적 방안을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이혼 후 상처의 치유와 삶의 적응을 위한 전문 기관의 연계가 필요하다. 둘째, 경제적 자립과 주거문제의 해결을 위한 공적지원체계가 강화되어야 한다. 셋째, 자녀 돌봄서비스와 방문교육서비스를 통합하여 지원할 수 있는 지원 방안의 마련이 필요하다. 넷째, 저소득층에 해당되는 한부모이주여성들이 취업을 하더라도 한시적으로 생계비와 수급권을 제한하지 않도록 하는 실질적인 지원이 필요하다. 후속연구에 대한 제안으로는 결혼이주여성의 이혼 후 삶을 생애주기와 자녀의 연령대에 따라 삶과 적응의 어려움을 다루어주는 연구들이 이루어지기를 기대한다.
