In this article, I try to get missionary lessons from the research on the Historical Insights and Prospect of the Expulsion of Chinese Missionaries focusing on the Communization of China and recent Cases of Banishment. Chinese cases are not models that encompass every case, but will give good lessons for member care and relocation of missionaries. The purpose of this study is to help the missionaries to find renewed calling and the local churches in sending, and supporting missionaries. Furthermore, this research aims to reform and reorganize the mission system and to reestablish the orientation of Chinese missions. In this article, I will use the method of literature study and the research material from both the time of the communization of China (the establishment of PRC) and the recent expulsion from China. Even though the expulsion of the missionaries caused deep embarrassment and perplexity to missionaries as well as deep confusion in missions to Korean churches, I will claim that the expulsion as well as the relocation of the missionaries are not just crisis but also opportunities for the future of churches and missions in China. Those are the turning points from existence to revival, from routine missions to creative missions, and from dependence to self-reliance. They also provide opportunities for member care and reorientation of the missionaries. This study will give contribution to the mission board, local churches, and the missionaries in the mission field.

한국 선교사들이 인도와 중앙아시아, 러시아 등 선교현장에서 타의로 입국거절 되거나 추방당하는 사태가 발생하고 있다. 그 중에서 중국이 한국 선교사를 추방하는 이유는 중국의 뿌리 깊은 반기독교 정서와 역사적 유산이 저류에 흐르며, 최근의 변화된 종교정책과 사드(THAAD) 배치와 연관된 정치적 배경과 관련이 있다고 본다. 여하튼 대대적인 한국 선교사의 입국거절과 추방의 현실과 향후 이러한 추세의 지속적인 전망을 할 때, 필자에게 제기되는 질문은 과연 이러한 선교의 위기를 한국 선교사들은 전혀 예측하지 못하였고 그에 대한 준비도 하지 않았는가? 입국거절과 추방을 경험한 한국 선교사들의 멤버케어와 재교육 및 재배치는 어느 정도 준비되고 시행되고 있는가? 중국 역사에서 이와 유사한 선교사의 추방과 재배치는 없었는가? 있었다면, 과연 어떠한 형태를 띠었으며, 어떤 역사적 교훈을 주고 있으며, 한국 선교사들에게 주는 교훈은 무엇인가? 필자는 이러한 질문을 본고에서 다 다룰 수는 없으나, 최근의 중국 역사, 특히 중국의 공산화 이후 선교사들의 추방과 재배치를 중심으로 연구를 수행하려고 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 추방된 한국 선교사들만 아니라 한국 교회와 선교단체들이 추방된 선교사들을 건강하고 건설적으로 재배치하도록 돕고, 중국 선교의 방향을 재정립하도록 하는 데 그 의의를 둔다. 연구의 방법은 주로 20세기 중국의 대 격변이라 할 수 있는 중화인민공화국 건립과 그 이후의 선교사의 추방과 재배치 등에 대한 문헌 자료들을 사용할 것이다.
