The purpose of the study is to compare the Enneagram personality type and developmental level indicator of 246 nursing students of K college with 214 nursing students of A college and explore how the enneagram which suggests a way to understand oneself and self-growth can be concretely applied in the area of nursing. The results of the study are summarized as follows:
1. The distribution of three centers of nursing students shows that gut center have 46.0% of 246 nursing students of the K college and that gut center have 45.8% of 214 nursing students of the A college, indicating that the gut center takes the biggest group.
2. The distribution of nursing students' Enneagram type shows that the largest group has type 9(37.4%, 24.3%), with type 6 having 18.3%, type 7 having 12.2% and type 2 having 10.8% of the K college, type 1 having 16.5%, type 4 having 14.0% , and 2type having 12.6% of the A college, and the least group has type 3.
3. As for the nursing students' Enneagram Type and Wing, the largest group has type 9w1(31.7%, 20.6%), with type 6w5(10.2%), type 6w7(8.1%) of the K college, and type 2w1(11.7%), type 1w9(11.2%) of the A college in this order.
4. The direction of energy turns towards disruption(53.7%, 52.3%), and the developmental level of personality reaches the 5th level(M=4.55) of the normal health level. To conclude, Enneagram differs from other personality types because it does not stop at classifying personality types and explaining them and it offers a concrete direction of treatment and growth and an insight into the direction of pathological regression. By putting together the above results the enneagram theory can be applied in connection with nursing education with the following recommendations.
1. The enneagram can be used to develop the essence of personality types and potentiality of nursing students and nurses, and will be applicable to the spiritual nursing.
2. The research to develop an enneagram educational program for nursing students is required to help them understand self as well as others patients. Further research on the effectiveness of enneagram workshop programs is necessary

이 연구는 에니어그램에 대한 이론을 탐색하고, 이를 간호분야의 간호대학생들에게 적용해 보
고자 전북지역 K대학 간호대학 신입생 246명과 서울의 A대학 신입생 214명의 에니어그램 성격
유형과 발달수준을 비교하기 위해 실행되었다. 에니어그램에 대한 이론적 탐구와 성격유형 검사결
과를 보면, 첫째, 간호대학생의 약 46%는 장중심에 속하였고, 약 32%는 9번 유형에 속하며 이 중
약 85%(전체의 26%)는 1번 날개를 지녔다. 전체적으로 244명(53%)이 분열의 방향에 속해 있다.
발달수준은 5수준에 해당되며 건강수준은 92.5%가 보통 범위에 해당한다. 두 대학 신입생 사이의
발달수준의 평균의 차이는 통계적으로 의미없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 불건강의 범위(7수준)에
속하는 약 3%의 학생들을 포함하여 전체 학생들의 현재 대학생활에서의 긴장이나 스트레스의 요
소를 다양하게 문석하고 이를 감소시킬 수 있는 대책마련 내지는 에니어그램을 통한 집단상담 프
로그램 개발 등이 요구된다. 결과적으로 에니어그램은 개인의 현재 심리적 건강 상태를 밝혀줄 뿐
만 아니라 발달수준의 저하를 예방하기 위한 방법을 제시하고 있음으로 나타났다. 각 개인은 자신
의 성격적 분열 상태를 막기 위해 통합의 방향으로 움직여야 하며 각 유형이 갖는 행동의 숨은
동기를 이해하고 각 유형이 갖는 본질적 두려움이 무엇인지 인식하는 것이 중요하다. 자신에게 우
세하게 나타나는 성격적 특성의 장, 단점을 이해하고 내면에 잠재되어있는 다른 유형과의 균형과
조화를 이루도록 노력함으로써 발달 수준을 높여야 할 것으로 기대한다.
