This case study explores the Characteristics and roles of migrant community for undocumented migrant workers, from the perspective of Actor network theory. Since 2000s, a lot of researches have paid attention to the multicultural space which affect the lives of transnational migrants in host country. In particular, undocumented migrant workers have been more influenced by multicultural space because they have no social capital in host country. This study explores the interaction in migrant community ,based on that the mobility of migrant worker is a complex process in which various human and non human actors have involved. For this purpose, I conducted in-depth interview with migrant workers and executors of migrant community, located in B city. Based on research result, I categorized the characteristics of migrant community as follows : 1) intersected space of purpose and instrument 2)space of conflict and negotiation as a contact zone 3) space of hub of circle of migration. This case study shows that the migrant community is a result of multidimensional actor networks which is often neglected by the Black box of "service center for labor migration" or "mission community for migrant workers".

이 논문은 미등록 이주노동자 공동체의 공간적 특성과 기능을 행위자 네 트워크 이론(Actor Network Theory)에 의해 B시의 이주민 선교센터를 중 심으로 분석한 사례연구다. 2000년대 이후 이주자들의 급증과 함께 생겨나 기 시작한 다양한 한국사회의 다문화 공간들에 대한 연구들은 초국적 이주 자들의 삶이 주로 국지적인 공간을 중심으로 재편될 가능성이 크다는 점에 주목해 왔다. 특히 유입지인 한국사회에서 사회적 자본이 미미한 미등록 이 주노동자에게 이주공동체라는 공간이 미치는 영향력은 클 수밖에 없다. 이 연구는 국내 미등록 이주노동자들의 삶의 맥락에 토대를 두고 행위자 네트 워크 이론의 관점에서 종교단체 주도로 형성된 이주노동자 공동체의 특성과 역할을 고찰하였다. 이주공동체를 구성하는 다양한 행위자들이 어떻게 상호 작용하면서 공간이 재구성되는지, 그리고 이러한 공간적, 관계적 특성이 이 주노동자들의 이주-정착-귀환의 순환의 과정에 어떻게 개입하는지를 분석 하였다. 연구결과, 미등록 이주노동자 공동체인 B시의 이주민 선교센터의 공간적 특성을 1) 목적성과 수단성의 교차적 공간 2) 갈등과 협상의 접촉 지대적 공간 3) 이주순환의 허브적 공간 3가지로 범주화할 수 있었다. 이러 한 연구결과에 기반하여, 이주민 선교센터가 단순히 “이주노동자를 지원하 는 물리적 공간”이거나 “이주노동자 선교를 위한 종교적 결사체” 등으로 정 화되면서 드러나지 않았던 블랙박스(Black Box)를 해체하여 다양한 행위자 네트워크에 의한 잡종적 결과로서 이주공간이 어떻게 진화되고 재구성되는 지를 논의하였다.
