Heobuin-Nanseolheon(許夫人蘭雪軒) on Cheongnyang(淸凉), written by Sungnyeong Lee(李崇寧), a pre-school student at Keijo(京城) Imperial University, is an academic essay about Nanseolheon(蘭雪軒), a female poet that appeared despite the time and space limitations of Chosun society. In this paper, Lee actively highlights the negative aspects of the Confucian-led Chosun society, which is under Nan Sul-hun, while exaggerating the hardships and achievements he experienced as a poet. As a beneficiary of modern education, he acknowledged the unreasonable realities of the past Chosun Dynasty, and tried to emphasize the excellence of Chosun literature through the fact that outstanding writers were still produced. The project was designed to counter Takahashi, a professor at Kyungsung Imperial University who denied the independence of Chosun culture. At the same time, it was also meant to show the Chosun Dynasty to the students of relief high schools and Imperial College in Japan and Taiwan. In its early days, Cheongnyang is a remarkable magazine in that it provides a glimpse of the efforts of Korean students. Looking at academic essayies about Chosun written by Chosun students, a common ground is found, such as actively denying Confucianism and pursuing Western-oriented liberal arts. This response made in the academic chapter was a passive way of resistance by the Chosun students to imperialism, and Cheongnyang served as a window to the nationalist side. To confirm this aspect, this study was focused on Lee's discussion of Nanseolheon.

경성제국대학 예과생이었던 이숭녕이 『청량』에 투고한 ｢허부인난설헌(許夫人蘭雪軒)｣은, 조선이라는 시공간적 제약에도 불구하고 출현한 여류시인 난설헌을 조명한 논문이다. 이숭녕은 이 논문에서 난설헌이 처한 유교 주심의 조선사회의 부정적인 면모를 적극적으로 부각시키는 한편, 그가 경험했던 고난과 시인으로서의 성취는 다소 과장하였다. 이숭녕은 근대 교육의 수혜자로서 과거 조선의 불합리한 현실을 인정하는 한편으로, 그럼에도 불구하고 뛰어난 문인이 배출되었다는 사실을 통해 조선문학의 우수성을 강조하고자 하였다. 이러한 기획은, 가깝게는 조선문화의 독자성을 부정하였던 경성제국대학 교수였던 다카하시의 논의에 대응하기 위한 것이었고, 멀리 일본과 대만의 구제고등학교와 제국대학 예과생들을 향해 조선적인 것의 보여주기 위한 것이기도 하였다. 창간 초기의 『청량』은 조선인 학생들의 이러한 노력을 엿볼 수 있다는 점에서 주목할 만한 잡지이다. 조선인 예과생들이 쓴 조선학 관련 논문을 살펴보면 유교를 적극 부정하고 서구지향적 교양주의를 추구하는 등의 공통점을 발견할 수 있다. 학술의 장에서 이루어진 이러한 대응은 제국주의에 대한 조선인 학생들 나름의 소극적인 저항의 방식이었고, 『청량』은 민족주의적 면모를 드러내는 창구의 역할을 하였다. 이러한 양상을 확인하기 위해 본고는 이숭녕의 허난설헌 논의에 주목하였다.
