Endo Shusaku (1923-1996) is a Japanexe Catholic writer. Although Endo's literature is constituted mainly of christianity novel, he had also been engaged in various activities such as essays and plays. As a Catholic, he wanted to express theological or christian themes in literary terms and had attempted to change the perception of God 's image through his masterpiece “Silence” by drawing the strictly paternal god of the West as a benevolent maternal god that conforms to Japanese culture and emotion, “Deep river”, which became the final work, not only breaks the boundaries of religion through the idea of ​​religious pluralism, but also makes it possible to think beyond religion. This kind of literary expression can come by the contemplation of his religion. not from blind faith. The purpose of this study is to examine how the field of the encounter between the literary imagination and the theological thought is spread through the work of Endo, which uses the theological subject as a literary material, and, conversely, the influence of literature on theology beyond literature.
