During the Joseon and pre-Christian periods a study on tourism was conducted, but no effort was made to look into tourism in the 1920s, which was a dark period of history. In this paper, I tried to find my way through literary works that directly or indirectly reflected social phenomena of the period by means of analogy about tourism during that time. Thus, out of many genres of literature, Chunwon Lee Gwang-soo's ' well ' was chosen. In the beginning, Russia's Lake Baikal appeared first and the main characters journey to Lake Baikal was expressed in various ways. The current Northeast Asia area was covered in various journeys, and the time was more free compared to the present day. Of course, it is doubtful whether the author actually went as far as Baikal because the tourist attractions in the Lake Baikal area, which often appear in the description of the author at the time, were completely concealed. Be that as it may, Lake Baikal was known as a world famous place for tourism at that time, making the ‘place of romance’ a once desirable destination for intellectuals. This year (2018), when he joined the International Rail Cooperation Organization, he will have to follow the old course of the novel " Well, " which had limited accessibility, and study on the new travel products.

관광의 역사를 연구하기 위한 조선시대 및 그 이전시대의 관광현상을 연구한 경우 는 있었지만 역사의 암울한 시기였던 1920년대 1930년대의 관광을 알아보려는 노력 은 없었다. 본 논문은 시대의 사회현상을 직간접적으로 나타내주는 문학작품을 통하여 당시의 관광에 대하여 유추해 보면서 발자취를 찾아가 보려는 시도를 했다. 그리하여 문학의 여러 장르 중에서 당시의 소설에 해당하는 춘원 이광수의 ‘유정’을 선택하였다. 이 작품은 서두에 러시아의 바이칼호수가 가장 먼저 등장하였으며 주인공들이 바이칼 호수를 최종 목적지로 찾아가는 여정이 다양하게 표현되었다. 다양한 여정 속 목적지 들은 현재의 동북아지역에 해당되며, 오히려 현재보다 당시가 더 자유롭게 왕래하였 다. 물론 현재 여행상품내용 중에서 많이 등장하는 바이칼 호수 지역의 관광지 들이 당시 작가의 바이칼호수지역 묘사에서는 전혀 보이지 않았던 것으로 보아 실제로 작 가가 바이칼 까지 갔었는지는 의문이 간다. 그렇지만 당시에도 바이칼호수가 세계적으 로 유명한 관광지로 알려져 있었기에 지식인 계층에서는 한번쯤 가보고 싶었던 로망 의 장소였다는 것은 현대 관광학 연구에서 관심을 가질 만하며, 국제철도협력기구에 가입하게 된 올해(2018년)는 그동안 접근성에 한계가 있었던 소설 ‘유정’의 주인공 이 지나간 코스를 따라가 보면서 새롭게 여행상품의 개발을 위한 각 방면에서 연구가 이 루어지길 바란다.
