The Golden Rule is not only a solid foundation of ethics, but also a norm for the Christians and the non-Christians. It is regarded as the common base of humanity, when the peace of the world is threatened by various conflicts, caused by the diversity of religions and ethnicities. Nevertheless, Christian ethicists have paid little attention to it. Even the philosophical ethicists could not grasp its Christian uniqueness. This study aims to investigate the ethical meaning of the Golden Rule and its Christian uniqueness through the new perspective on Jesus’ enemy-love in the Sermon on the Mount. The ethical significances of the Golden Rule can be summarize as follows. It gives the possibility to build a universal ethic beyond tribal ethics. It stimulates to take responsibility for others beyond egocentrism. And it highlights the emotion of ‘sympathy’ beyond a rational ethics based on reasonableness. What is the uniqueness of the Christian ethical features of the Golden Rule, when we investigate it from the viewpoint of the context of enemy-love in the Sermon of the Mount? Firstly, Christian ethics of the Golden Rule is divine or escathological compare to the natural law ethics on the basis of reason. Secondly, its moral attitude of loving others is active and unconditional.. Lastly, rather than choosing between love and justice, it seeks for the integration of love and justice dialectically.

황금률은 기독교윤리의 토대요 중요한 규범이다. 종교간, 민족간, 국가간의 다양성과 이해관계에서 생겨나는 여러 유형의 갈등과 분쟁으로 세계평화가 위협받는 이 시대에 황금률은 인류의 보편적 윤리의 토대가 될 수 있다는 점에서 중요하다. 그럼에도 불구하고 황금률에 대한 기독교윤리적 논의는 활발하지 못했으며, 일반윤리는 황금률의 기독교적 독특성을 파악하지 못했다. 이 연구의 목적은 황금률의 맥락인 산상설교 속 원수사랑의 관점에서 황금률의 윤리적 의미를 해석함으로써 예수가 가르친 황금률의 윤리적 가치를 밝히고, 일반윤리와 구별되는 기독교윤리의 독특성을 드러내는데 목적을 둔다. 황금률이 우리시대에 주는 윤리적 의의는 크게 세 가지다. 하나는 부족주의 윤리를 넘어서는 보편주의 윤리를 추구한다는 점이고, 다른 하나는 자기중심주의를 넘어서 타자에 대한 관심과 책임을 강조한다는 점이며, 마지막은 이성 중심의 합리주의 도덕성을 넘어서 공감윤리를 강조한다는 점이다. 산상설교 속 원수사랑의 맥락에서 해석할 때 예수의 황금 지닌 기독교윤리의 독특성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기독교윤리는 일반윤리의 자연법적 차원을 넘어 신적 윤리나 초월적(종말론적) 윤리에 속한다. 둘째, 기독교윤리는 사랑에 대해서조차 소극적이고 조건적이고 상호적인 일반윤리와 달리 적극적이고 무조건적이며 일방적인 태도를 강조한다. 셋째, 기독교윤리는 정의냐 사랑이냐의 양자택일 대신에 둘 사이의 변증법적 통합을 추구한다.
