This article studies on the religiosity of young people in presbyterian church, based on qualitative and quantitative research methods. The primary purpose of this research is to examine the faith patterns of young people and their religiosity. In addition, it explores the relationship between the decrease of the number of young people and religiosity. By so doing, it shows the possibility of pastoral work on young people in church. According to the fieldwork data, the religiosity of young people can be divided into five: the attendance of ritual and church activities, encounter with God, reading the Bible and prayer, personal relationships with other members in church, the understanding of church and denomination. They are again classified with two contents: the first three are connected with external and internal religious life of young people and the second part of the contents is related with the religious network and the understanding of church and denomination. According to the research, the religious life of young people tends to be evaluated by the attendance of ritual and church activities more than their inner conviction and prayer life. In addition, they are influenced by the personal relationships with other members in church more than church programmes and the religious inclination of denomination. As a result, one of the characteristics is that they do not much take care of their personal and inner religiosity. Young people tend to spend more time on serving their church community and taking part in services than personal prayer, reading and studying the Bible. Therefore, the sense of belonging mainly comes from human relationships rather than personal conviction. Their personal relationships influence their church and faith lives: religious affiliations, serving the church community, the sense of belonging and the relationship with God.

본 논문은 설문지와 인터뷰 자료를 바탕으로 한국기독교장로회 청년들의 종교성을 연구한다. 이 연구의 가장 근본적인 목적은 현재 청년들의 신앙생활 패턴이나 종교성의 성격을 살펴보는 것이지만, 부차적으로 청년 교인수 감소와 종교성이 어떤 연관성이 있는가도 살펴본다. 그렇게 함으로써, 청년선교와 목회에 있어서 교회가 어디에 조금 더 신경을 써야하는지에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 연구결과 청년들의 종교성은 크게 종교 활동과 의례 참석, 하나님과의 개인적인 만남, 기도와 말씀 생활, 종교적 네트워크, 교회나 조직에 대한 이해 등으로 나눌 수 있었다. 이 논문에서는 이것을 다시 두 부분으로 나누어 살펴본다. 종교 활동과 의례 참여, 하나님과의 개인적인 만남, 기도와 말씀 생활 등 앞의 세 영역과 관련된 첫 번째 부분은 청년들의 외면적인 종교생활과 내면적인 종교생활에 대한 부분이다. 두 번째는 뒤의 두 영역인 청년들의 종교적 네트워크와 교회나 조직에 대한 이해와 관련된 부분이다. 청년들의 신앙생활은 종교 활동과 의례 참석 빈도수에 따라 평가되는 경향이 있으며, 내적 확신이나 경건생활은 부차적인 평가요인이었다. 또한 교단이 추구하는 영향이나 교회 프로그램보다는 청년부 내부의 인간관계에 더 많은 영향을 받고 있었다. 기장청년들의 종교성의 특징 중에 하나는 개인적인 종교성이 취약하다는 것이다. 청년들은 기도나 말씀생활이나 성공공부에 많은 시간을 할애하지 않는 반면, 봉사나 예배참석 같은 공적활동은 개인적인 종교 활동보다 더 적극적이었다. 그런 이유 때문에 청년들의 일차적인 소속감은 하나님에 대한 내적확신이나 신념 같은 것에서 나오기보다 청년부 내부의 대인관계 같은 것에 더 많이 의존해 있었다. 대인관계는 참가자들의 신앙생활 전반에 영향을 주고 있었다. 교회입회과정, 봉사를 하게 된 계기, 교회생활에서 영향을 주고받는 사람들, 소속감, 심지어는 하나님과의 관계에 까지 광범위하게 영향을 미치고 있었다.
