This study seeks to find out the impact of Korean society on Korean churches due to the very low fertility rate, declining production population, and the aging of baby boomers. The Korean church seems to be hit by a sudden change in its impact due to the demographic cliff. There have been many local churches where the Sunday school has declined sharply or has closed. The size of the young people who are the backbone of the church is in a dying state. Members of the Baby Boomer generation who had experienced the explosive growth of the Korean Church in the past have become aging. Many reports have focused on the quantitative assessment of the demographic cliffs, suggesting the shadow of quantitative church growth. On the contrary, this research will try to illuminate the qualitative aspect of the church that corresponds to the demographic cliff, which is another side of the coin of the quantitative approach. For this ecclesiological approach, I will highlight the qualitative aspects of the Korean church through Neil Cole's Church 3.0: Upgrades for the Future of the church. The crisis of the Korean church, which recognizes the phenomenon of population decline, is emphasized on the quantitative side, which is closely related to financial factors. This is the result that the identity of the Korean church is perceived as the Church 2.0 and is based on the institutional centered church. Church 3.0 to cope with the era of the demographic cliff understands the church as an organic relationship as the body of Christ. This is not a mission by the church, but a community that participates in God's mission. Organic churches enable open small group to respond appropriately to diverse social changes. The decline in absolute numbers due to demographic cliffs is certainly a crisis for the Korean church, but the upgrade of the church's identity to Church 3.0 will open another opportunity.

본 연구는 한국사회가 인구절벽 현상으로 겪는 초저출산율, 생산가능인구의 감소, 베이비붐 세대의 고령화가 한국교회에 끼치는 영향과 그 대안을 모색한다. 한국교회는 마치 인구구조의 급변화로 인하여 그 영향의 직격탄을 맞은 듯하다. 주일학교가 급격 히 감소하거나, 아예 없어져 버린 지역교회들이 많아졌다. 교회의 허리가 되는 청년층 의 규모는 빈사상태이다. 과거의 한국교회의 폭발적인 성장의 시기를 경험했던 베이비 붐 세대의 교인들은 고령화가 되었다. 여러 보고서들이 인구절벽에 대한 양적평가에 집중하여 양적 교회성장론의 그림자가 드리워진 듯하다. 이렇게 인구절벽 현상에 대하 여, 양적접근의 동전의 다른 면인 인구절벽을 대응하는 교회의 질적인 측면을 파악하 고자 한다. 이러한 교회론적 접근을 위하여 닐 콜(Neil Cole)의 「교회3.0: 본질과 사명 을 되찾는 교회의 재탄생」을 통하여, 한국교회의 질적인 측면을 조명한다. 인구감소 현상을 인식하는 한국교회의 위기감은 양적측면이 강조되고, 이는 재정적 요소와 깊은 연관을 보여준다. 이는 한국교회의 정체성이 교회2.0으로 인식되어 조직중심의 모이는 교회에 치우친 결과이다. 인구절벽시대에 대응하기 위한 교회3.0은 교회를 그리스도의 몸된 공동체로서 유기적관계로 이해한다. 이는 교회에 의한 선교가 아닌 하나님의 선 교에 참여하는 공동체로서의 이해를 가지고, 흩어지는 교회를 지향한다. 유기적 교회 는 개방적인 소규모 공동체를 가능하게 하여 다양한 사회적 변화에 적절하게 대응할 수 있게 된다. 인구절벽으로 인한 절대수의 감소는 분명 한국교회에게 위기이나, 교회 3.0을 통한 교회의 질적변화는 또 다른 기회이다.
