The purpose of this study is to find a more active management system that can induce citizen and visitor use in the preservation and utilization of urban architectural cultural assets. In particular, by seeking a plan at the level of an autonomous administrative division, First, we investigated the administrative organization system and operation status of preservation and utilization of cultural heritage in Suwon city where architectural cultural assets occupy an important place in city management. As a result of the survey, Suwon City is actively promoting open space for the use of building cultural properties in daily life, such as rest and education, and supports civic organization activities for the management and use of cultural properties. And 24 hours remote monitoring system is being operated to prevent damage to cultural property.

본 연구는 도시 건축문화재의 보존과 활용에 있어 도시민의 삶과 연계되어 살아 숨쉬는 도시 속 문 화공간으로서 기능할 수 있도록 하기 위한 보다 적극적인 시민 및 방문객의 이용을 유도할 수 있는 관리체계를 모색하는 연구이다. 특히, 우리나라 도시 건축문화재의 실질적인 관리주체이자, 도시민의 삶에 대한 직접적인 지원을 행하는 기초자치단체 차원에서 그 방안을 모색하는 것으로, 우선, 건축문 화재가 도시관리상 중요한 위치를 차지하는 수원시에서 이루어지고 있는 문화재보존과 활용관련 행 정조직 체계 및 운용실태를 조사하였다. 조사결과 수원시는 건축문화재의 이용공간을 일반인들이 휴식 및 교육 등에 일상적으로 이용할 수 있도록 적극적인 개방정책을 추진하고 있으며, 문화재관리 및 활용을 위한 시민조직활동을 지원하고 있다. 다만, 문화재의 직접 활용에 의한 문화재 훼손에 대한 보완책으로 24시간 원격 감시 시스템을 운용하고 있음을 확인하였다.
