The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of Donghak(東學)·Chondogyo(天道敎)s iew of ife and Death and to identify the implications for modern society of it. In Donghak·Chondogyo, death is expressed as reduction. Death in the sense of returning to the origin means spiritual rebirth, not death. And it aims to gain eternal life through the ife of Serving. In the modern society where death is institutionalied, it provides important reason to reflect the meaning of death and meaning of life. The contents of this study are as follows. First, I analye the characteristics of modern society such as capitalism system, competition logic and fatigue society. Second, I discuss the view of ife and Death of Donghak(東學)·Chondogyo(天道敎), with the life of eternal youth and long, Returning to Hanulnim and ife of Serving. Third, we discuss the view of Innaecheon(人乃天)’s life and death through Isinhwanseong() and Seonglyeongchul(靈出世). The results of this study are as follows. First, Donghak(東學)·Chondogyo (天道敎)s iew of ife and Death provides a critical reflection on the institutionalied death discourse of modern society. Second, it shows what is needed for a meaningful life through Inhwanseong() and Seonglyeongchulse(靈出世). Third, because well dying is good to well being, we have to practice death.

이 연구의 목적은 동학 천도교의 생사관의 특징을 살펴보고 현대 사회에 시사하는 의미를 명하는 데 있다. 동학 천도교에서는 죽음을 환원으로 표현하고 있다. 근원으로 회귀한다는 점에서 죽음은 죽음이 아니라 영적으로 다시 태어남을 의미한다. 동학 천도교의 생사관은 모심의 삶을 통한 영원한 생명을 얻는 것을 지향한다. 죽음이 제도화된 현대사회에서 동학 천도교의 이러한 생사관은 죽음의 의미와 삶의 의미를 성찰하는데 중요한 사유를 제공한다. 이 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 째, 현대 사회의 특징인 자본주의 시스과 경쟁논리 그리고 피로 사회 등을 분석한다. 둘째, 동학의 생사관을 장생과 환원 그리고 모심의 삶으로 논의한다. 째, 인내천의 생사관을 이신환성과 성령출세론을 통해서 논의한다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 째, 동학 천도교의 생사관은 현대사회의제도화된 죽음 담론을 비판적으로 성찰하는 사유를 제공한다. 둘째, 동학 천도교의 생사관은 이신환성을 통한 의미있는 삶을 위해 필요한 것이 무엇인지를 보여준다. 째, 잘 죽는 것이 잘 사는 것이므로, 죽음의 연습을 해야 한다.
