This paper analyzes the causal relationship between imports and exports in the water industry as the economy grows and the attractiveness of the market increases in developing countries. As a result of the VAR model which analyzed the Granger by using the data of GDP, exports, and imports of the major countries in Southeast Asia from 1997 to 2016, we found that the export of the major equipments in the water industry has causalty with imports and exports with GDP. Therefore, companies related to the water industry should consider the time lag of the causal relationship in advance when they establish strategies to enter oversea markets of the water industry. Additionally, the related supporting government organizations can use this analysis as a standard method to corresponding to the states of economic development when selecting the possible target markets(countries) that is the most difficult part.

본 논문은 개발도상국들이 경제가 성장하면 시장의 매력도가 높아지면서 물 산업 수출입에 영 향에 대한 인과관계를 분석하였다. 1997년부터 2016년까지 동남아시아 주요국의 GDP, 수출, 수입의 패널자료를 활용해 VAR 모형을 통한 그랜저인과 분석을 수행한 결과 연구 대상 모든 국가에서 GDP 에 대하여 시차를 두고 물산업 주요 기자재에 대한 수출과 수입 혹은 수출, 수입 중 한 분야에 대한 인과관계를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 물산업 관련 기업은 물산업의 해외진출 전략 수립시 인과관계의 시차를 분석하여 선제적으로 대응해야 하며 유관 지원기관은 해외진출 지원 정책 수립시 가장 어려운 목표시장(국가) 선정시 경제발전 현황을 분석하여 이를 반영할 수 있는 기준으로 사용될 수 있을 것이다.
