This article restructures the moral view of realistic political philosophy and evaluates some characteristics. Realism refers to the classical realistic thought of international politics established by Machiavelli, then Weber, and in the early 20th century, in response to modern idealism. We will look at Machiavelli's realistic morality, which has distinguished politics and morality from the modern era, and laid the foundation of epistemology and value theory of political realism. In addition, Weber's realism, which sets the responsibility ethics as the virtue of political leaders in contrast to the belief ethics, is examined. Then, we review and summarize the claims of classical realists in the 20th century who criticized the moral limitations and hypocrisy of idealism at the time of the interwar period.

이 글은 현실주의 정치철학의 도덕관을 재구성하고, 몇 가지 특징을 평가해 본다. 현실주의는 국제정치에 대해 마키아벨리 이후 베버를 거쳐 20세기 초 수립된 고전적 현실주의 사상을 가리킨다. 정치와 도덕의 영역을 구분하며 정치적 현실주의의 인식론과 가치론의 기초를 놓은 마키아벨리의 현실주의 도덕관을 살펴본다. 아울러 책임윤리를 신념윤리와 대비시켜 정치가의 덕목으로 설정한 베버의 현실주의를 고찰한다. 이어 양차대전 전간기 당시 이상주의의 도덕적 한계와 위선을 비판한 20세기 고전적 현실주의의 주장을 검토하고 정리한다.
