In most of current multi-business organizations, enterprise strategies are developed and implemented without an architectural perspective. As particularly evident in multi-business enterprises, each business builds and maintains its own strategy, not necessarily friendly to or cooperative with those of its neighbor businesses. As a consequence, strategy silos mushroom and abound. This article proposes the concept of Enterprise Strategy Architecture (ESA) and develops a Framework for ESA. Based upon an extensive review of the strategy literature and practice, the article identifies various concepts and constructs that comprise strategy and discusses their interrelationships. A new framework is developed for both the design of strategy and the governance of strategy. A detailed illustration of how this ESA Framework is used to identify and mend strategy silos in multi-business enterprises is provided.

현재 엔터프라이즈 아키텍처(EA)의 설계와 거버넌스의 전개에 있어서 엔터프라이즈 전략에 대 한 관점이 간과되고 있어서 적지 않은 문제가 되고 있다. 특히 복수의 비즈니스를 전개하고 있는 엔 터프라이즈의 경우, 각 비즈니스 별로 추진하고 있는 전략들 간의 충돌과 전략 사일로의 문제에 대하 여 어떻게 접근하고 해결해야 할 것인지에 대한 체계적 분석틀이 요구된다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제 해 결을 위한 엔터프라이즈 전략 아키텍처의 개념을 설정하고, 엔터프라이즈 전략 아키텍처를 구성하는 요소들을 전략 아키텍처 프레임워크의 형태로 제시한다. 아울러 전략 아키텍처 프레임워크에 입각하 여 전략 충돌을 식별하고 엔터프라이즈의 전략적 성과를 제고할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다.
