Enterprise Architecture(ETA: Enterprise Information Architecture) has been introduced for the application to the relatively large public enterprises of the Federal Government of the U.S.A. and has utilized all kinds of complicated modern management techniques, information system construction and management knowledges. This study, however, suggested a method to apply the basic thoughts of the EIA to the small sized public enterprises or small business, because any organizations need the effective use of the today`s complex information technology and information systems. The main approach of this study is to find the improvement area through the evaluation of the TQM categories and the SWOT analysis for a small enterprise and aligning the EIA with the improvement plan for the weak areas is major strategy. If it increase the competitive capability of the organization, the good foundation for the Enterprise Information Architecture to be competitively developed further could be constructed within the organization. This study was performed on the basis of the small research project for the application of the Enterprise Information Architecture to the small business Therefore I hope that small or medium business or small sized organization of the government agencies could incrementally improve their level of management capabilities using EIA for the investment in the complicated information technology and information systems in order to better achieve their business goals in the knowledge based information society.

Enterprise Architecture(필자 관점, EIA: 전사적 정보 체계)는 미국 연방 정부 공공 분야의 비교적 큰 규모의 정부 기관에서 적용되기 위하여 도입되고 있으며 매우 복잡한 온갖 현대적인 경영 기법과 정보시스템 구축 및 관리 기법 등을 총 망라하고 있다. 그러나 본 연구는 오늘날의 복잡한 정보 기술과 정보 시스템을 효율적으로 사용하는 것은 누구나 필요하기 때문에, 그 기본 사상들을 작은 규모의 공공 기관이나 중소기업에도 적용하는 방법을 제시하였다. 주요 접근 방식은 전사적 품질 경영(TQM) 항목의 평가와 해당 기업의 SWOT 분석을 통하여 기업의 약점 혹은 위협 부분을 도출하고, 취약점을 개선하기 위하여 전사적 정보 체계(EIA)를 연계하는 것이 주요 전략이다. 이러한 노력이 기업의 경쟁력을 향상할 수 있다면, 그 조직은 전사적 정보 체계(EIA)를 지속적으로 지지하여 경쟁력 있는 전사적 정보 체계(EIA)로 발전시켜 나아갈 수 있으리라고 생각한다. 본 자료는 한 중소기업을 대상으로 전사적 정보 체계(EIA)를 도출하는 소규모 연구 프로젝트를 기반으로 작성한 내용이므로 규모가 작은 공공 기관이나 중소기업들도 전사적 정보 체계(EIA)를 활용하여 복잡한 정보기술과 정보시스템 투자 부분에 대한 관리 수준을 점진적으로 제고하여 지식 정보화 사회에서도 계속 발전하는데 도움이 될 것으로 본다.
