Domestic information industries still passively follow the advanced IT countries and even large IT companies including system integration fields seems to have a number of difficulties in terms of strategies for securing the international competitiveness for this internet-centered age. The changes of our society from the speed of the changing Information Technologies have already been beyond our imagination. In the reality that the big changes became daily life, one of the stable and consistent policies to perform the businesses could be encouraging the IT standardization activities. The good amount of informations and knowledges for the IT standards could be root sources to secure the world competitiveness and to quickly access to the main track of the network-centered businesses era. Although IT standardization is getting more important, local information technologies companies seem not to consider these as very important business areas. The predictable commands of the IT standards, however, may provide some opportunities for the companies to securely preoccupy the market and could be the strong weapons of the knowledge based information society. This study provides the importance of the IT standardization, the trends of the Information Technology standardization, and its basic directions and proposes the responding strategies of local IT companies to it.

국내정보산업의 육성이 선진국에 비해 많이 뒤처져 있으며, 대형 정보 기술 업체들의 정보 산업 진출도 비교적 느리게 발전하고 있고, 국제화 시대에 시급한 자생력 확보를 위하여 많은 부담을 안고 있는 실정이다. 또한 정보 기술 변화의 속도와 이로 인한 사회의 변화는 상상의 한계를 넘고 있다. 이처럼 큰 폭의 변화가 일상생활이 되어 버린 현실 속에서 일관성 있게 안정적으로 사업을 추진할 수 있는 정책의 일환으로, 정보기술 표준화 활동의 활성화를 통한 효율적인 경쟁력 확보 및 본 궤도에 빠른 접근방식이 필요하게 되었다. 이러한 상황임에도 불구하고 국내의 정보 기술 회사들은 정보 기술 표준을 등한시하여 왔다. 그러나 정보 기술 표준을 확보는 그 반대급부로 확실하게 시장을 점유할 수 있는 기회이며 정보화 시대의 든든한 무기라 볼 수 있으므로, 정보 기술 표준의 중요성과 국내외 정보 기술 표준화 동향 및 정보 기술 표준에 대한 기본적인 방향을 살펴본 후 우리의 대응책을 제안하고자 한다.
