This article is about a traditional manuscript material which is describing a game called golpae. There are some records which shows the prevalence of golpae especially during the late period of Chosun. However, there is no detailed explanation of how to play or rules. Perhaps, because of the nature of gambling, it was not easy to be distributed to the public. There exist not so many materials which shows the direction or the rules about golpae. And it tells you various ways to enjoy the game golpae. It was definitely a play culter and gambling culture that was quite popular in the late Chosun period. But we can’t tell the exact way of game because playing methods and directions differed from region to region. Some says that there were almost 80 ways to play golpae. Therefore, there are various opinions about accurate game method and score calculation method. Golpae-gyeokdo is the manuscript material explained with the picture about the tile of game. And it allows you to guess the rules and the way of play. It can be called a score table that keeps track of the score according to the tile. In this article, I introduce the features and values of Golpae-gyeokdo. In addition, I translated some poem which were in this material. I expect this article will contribute to the realization of game golpae.

이 글은 전통 놀이인 동시에 노름의 일종인 골패놀이에 대해 그림을 덧붙여 설명한 필사본 자료인 󰡔골패격도(骨牌格圖)󰡕를 소개하는 목적으로 작성하였다. 우리나라에서, 특히 조선후기에 골패 놀음이 성행했다는 기록은 여러 곳에서 발견된다. 그러나 실제로 놀이를 하는 방법이나 규칙에 대해서는 자세한 설명이 남아 있지 않다. 아마도 도박이라는 성격으로 인해 공공에 유통되기는 쉽지 않았기 때문으로 보인다. 골패의 성격 혹은 패에 대한 설명을 적은 자료는 현재 다섯 종 정도가 남아 있다. 국립중앙도서관 소장 『골패(骨牌)』(청구기호: BA5994-1), 규장각 소장 『투보(骰譜)』(청구기호: 가람古795.1-T79)와 『골패보(骨牌譜)』(청구기호: 古2800-1), 장서각 소장 『사팔보(四八譜)』(청구기호: C10G-12), 경희대학교 도서관 소장 『골패법(骨牌法)』(청구기호: 812.1-골893ㅈ) 등이 이에 해당하는 자료이다. 이들 자료는 패의 격을 기록하였다는 점에서는 동일하지만, 놀이 방법이 다양했던 골패의 특성상 수록 내용과 명칭에 있어서는 다소 차이가 있다. 골패는 분명 조선후기에 상당히 성행하였던 놀이 문화이자 노름 문화였다. 그러나 골패의 놀이 방법은 지역과 시기에 따라 다양하게 변용되어 약 80여 가지에 이를 정도였기 때문에 그 실체를 정확히 알 수가 없는 형편이다. 또한 구체적인 놀이 방법과 점수 계산 방법에 대해서는 이설(異說)이 분분한 상황이다. 여기서 소개하는 『골패격도』는 골패 놀이의 패에 대해 그림과 함께 설명한 필사본 자료로서 조선후기의 골패 놀이의 규칙과 방식 등을 짐작할 수 있게 해주는 자료이다. 제목에 사용된 ‘격도(格圖)’는, 패에 따라 점수의 우열을 가리는 점수 일람표라고 할 수 있다. 이 글에서는 이 자료의 서지적 특징과 가치에 대해 소개하고, 자료에서 언급되고 있는 한시 구절을 바탕으로 원시(原詩)를 함께 소개하고자 한다. 끝으로 원문이미지를 함께 싣는다. 골패 놀이에 대해 기록한 다른 필사본 자료의 교차 검토를 통해 향후 골패 노름의 실체를 재구성하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대한다.
