This dissertation is written in order to study Aleomali in Daehuei 『Seojang』 in two aspects. The first aspect is about the characteristics of Aleomali in Daehuei 『Seojang』, the second aspect is about the context of Aleomali in Daehuei 『Seojang』. Firstly, in the aspect of the characteristics of Aleomali in Daehuei 『Seojang』, there are two kind of Aleomali: the unrestricted meaning of Aleomali and the restricted meaning of Aleomali. The unrestricted meaning of Aleomali consists of comparing and analyzing thinking, Buddha and Seon master’s whole teaching, The restricted meaning of Aleomali consists of comparing and analyzing thinking only. Totally his theory structure of Aleomali is based on The unrestricted meaning of Aleomali, Secondly, in the aspect of the context of Aleomali presentation in Daehuei 『Seojang』, there are three kinds of context: the context of daily life, the context of Buddhist ascetic practice, the context of teaching Seon Buddhism. The Aleomalis which presened in the specific context are based on the restricted meaning of Aleomali. Even though I studied the definition of Aleomali and the context of Aleomali presentation in Daehuei 『Seojang』 in two aspects in this research paper, there could be the other subjects to study. I might continue researching about his other works in the near future.

기존 연구는 화두참구상의 지해, 초기불교의 사대·오온, 십이처, 십팔계의 삼과법, 유식의 제6, 7, 8식, 4조 도신 이후 조사가르침, 일체 불교교설 등을 알음알이로 보았는데 여기서는 논의된 알음알이 전체를 광의의 알음알이, 그 중 헤아림이 사용된 초기 불교의 삼과법, 유식의 제6,7,8식, 화두 참구상 사량분별, 묵조의 쉬어감을 협의의 알음알이로 정의하였다. 『서장』은 초기불교 삼과법은 물론 불교교설까지 환으로 보는 입장이 깔려 있어 광의의 알음알이 체계에 기초하고 구체적 표현 맥락에는 협의의 알음알이가 사용되었다. 일상 맥락에서는 이둔(利鈍)이라는 자기 능력과 세속 환경, 문장과 명예와 부귀에 골몰하며, 수행중 일반 불교수행에서는 참선보다 염불과 참회, 간경공부가 빠르고 효과적이라 보며, 간경과 분석하는 찬고지(鑽古紙), 학습과 수행을 구분하고, 묵조수행에서는 고요와 시끄러움 중 고요를 선택하여 쉬기 좋아하며, 고요에서 나타나는 망상, 간화선 수행에서는 간화선 10종병 중 수신인에 따라 다른 항목, 포교맥락에서는 깨달은 뒤 고귀함에 빠지며, 교화할 때 명예와 이익을 추구하며, 간화선지도에 본분선이나 노파선의 어느 한 입장에 집착하는 등의 알음알이가 각각 제시되었다.
