This paper is an analysis of the Chan doctrines of Sungchul (性徹) , written in his Seonmunjeongro (禪門正路) . Sungchul gave the most importance to sudden enlightenment (頓悟) , and denied intellectual enlightenment (解悟) . He completely confronted the meditative and doctrinal , but this was not mainstream in Chinese Chan thoughts . In this paper , I considered Sungchul ’ s Chan thoughts as the inculturation of Chinese Chan thoughts in Korea . Also I think that his Chan thoughts can provide an example for the development of the modern Chinese Buddhism .

본문은 『선문정로 (禪門正路) 』에서 논술되는 성철선사의 돈오돈수 학설을 분석하는 것이다. 성철선사는 견성 (見性) 의 모든 내용을 돈오 (頓悟) 에 부여하고, 돈오를 선문의 유일한수행 목적으로 삼아, 해오 (解悟) 의 경계, 가치, 그리고 작용을 철저히 부정했다. 그래서 교문과 선문을 완전히 대립시켰다. 이는 중국 선종사에서는 주류적인 사조가 아니었다. 이 논문에서는 성철 선사의 선사상을 선학의 한국화라고 보았다. 그의 선학은해오의 편향된 경향을 바로잡는 데 매우 강조점을 두고 있다. 성철 선사의 선사상은현대 중국 선사상의 발전에 본보기를 제공할 수도 있다고 생각한다.
